ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2020
As the world faces a stressful time with the rise of the Coronavirus pandemic, the
message for all of us is clear—stay at home to avoid the spread of the virus. With this,
COVID-19 Pandemic has affected educational systems worldwide, leading to closure of
all schools---private and public.
All schools were largely affected especially the Tertiary Education who were still
in the middle of the semester before the pandemic. This caused a dilemma especially to
college instructors. Transition to online/distance learning was the response of
Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College to manage learning continuity. Instructors
are highly encouraged to reach out to students to continue with their classes through
online learning modalities (for those with internet connections) and modular learning
(for those with no internet connections) since face-to-face classes are prohibited.
For the first week, September 7-11, 2020, I opted to meet my students online
for online orientation for all of my classes for them to be properly oriented with the
course and the suggested schedule of learning activities.
For the second week, the students started answering their Module 1. Queries
were entertained in our Group Chats. The PED 9 classes were expected to define the
major conceptions of Curriculum using a Concept Map. EDUC 218 students were also to
submit a concept map on the different teaching principles in language arts teaching.
EDUC 219 on the other hand were to submit a reflection paper on the importance of
music education and teaching.
For the third week, the PED 9 classes were to submit Interview Write-ups. They
are to interview via calls/texts/chats the following persons: (elementary grade teacher,
school heads, college teacher, student teacher, non- education college student) and ask
each one what is curriculum to them. EDUC 218 students were to describe the salient
features of the K-12 Language Curriculum through journals while EDUC 219 were to
identify the scope and sequence of musical concepts for first to sixth grades using a
sequencing map.
For the fourth week, the PED 9 classes were expected to identify the benefits
and possible pitfalls/difficulties of having an official curriculum prescribed to all schools.
At the end of the week, they were to submit a Fishbowl Organizer. EDUC 218 were
expected to make a reflection on the importance of the five macro-skills in language in
promoting literacy skills while EDUC 219 were to cite the importance of acquiring the
different qualities and competencies of a music teacher especially when dealing with
learners with diverse strengths, interests, experiences and abilities through a short
reflection. At the end of the week, both classes were to submit reflection papers.
So far, the submission of requirements went smoothly and most of the students
complied.
