But when Affleck developed a bond with Matt Damon, things began taking a serious turn. Between the ages of 8-15, Affleck starred in children’s shows produced by PBS and ABC, casting him to play roles in Wanted: A Perfect Man and Hands of a Stranger.

After a tumultuous return to his family’s hole-in-the-wall Chicago restaurant, chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) and his staff transform the greasy sandwich joint into a first-class dining experience after he discovers the slush fund his brother left behind. Despite having the extra money to make his dreams a reality, the future proves to be both a personal and professional challenge for Carmy and the crew.
Watch the trailer for Season 2 of “The Bear”:
Beginning on June 14, the new series continuation of the beloved film “The Full Monty” arrives on Hulu. It’s 25 years later and the men and women of Sheffield, England, are in reboot mode, navigating life and family. Get in line, because Cocaine Bear has made its way to Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital following a successful theatrical run. The “Maximum Rampage Edition” features several featurettes, including a fun audio commentary by director/producer Elizabeth Banks and producer (and Banks’ husband) Max Handelman.
Here are eight things I learned from the Cocaine Bear commentary…
1. The film opens with a Wet Hot American Summer reference.
Cocaine Bear opens to the tune of Jefferson Starship’s “Jane,” which many will recognize as the theme song to Wet Hot American Summer, the film in which Banks got her start. She explains:
“This song straight up is an homage to Wet Hot American Summer. Anybody who knows my work knows Wet Hot American Summer was technically my first movie as Elizabeth Banks. That’s my SAG card, got it on that movie. This is the opening song to Wet Hot American Summer, and I sent David Wain,...

Rebel Wilson is getting ready to serve as the star of “Double Fault,” a tennis comedy in development at Paramount Players.
Jim and Brian Kehoe, the brothers who wrote the 2019 high school comedy “Blockers,” are in talks to pen the screenplay. The logline is being kept under wraps.
“Double Fault” will be produced by Wilson and Todd Garner (“Senior Year”), with Brad Jenkel (“The Matador”) on board as executive producer.
Wilson recently starred in Netflix’s teen comedy “Senior Year,” in which she played a 37-year-old who wakes up from a coma and returns to high school to get her diploma.
In Variety’s review of “Senior Year,” Dennis Harvey praised Wilson as “a naturally gifted comedian” who pulls together the movie “through sheer force of personality and riffing performance chops.”
Prior to “Senior Year,” Wilson hadn’t starred in a movie since 2019’s “Isn’t It Romantic,” a romantic comedy that parodies stereotypical Hollywood meet-cutes.

But that's what happened exactly on Magnum P.I. Season 4 Episode 15.

Magnum started as a private eye as a skip tracer, with many of those cases coming from bail bondsman Melvin Muchado.
Thomas has a big heart and will always find time for someone who has helped him in the past.
So when Melvin called, Magnum halted his playful fencing match with Higgins so they could take a meeting with him. (Higgins is British. Doesn't that automatically make her a better fencer than him?)
Melvin's request sounded simple enough. Find his client, Stella Torres, before he has to forfeit a quarter-million in bail, an assignment at which Jimmy Woo, another competent P.I., had already failed.
But that's what happened exactly on Magnum P.I. Season 4 Episode 15.
Poor Thomas. He agreed to do a favor for an old client, and what a mess resulted for him.

This Money Heist article contains Major spoilers for Season 5.
The long-awaited final season of Netflix’s most popular foreign language series Money Heist blew up everything we though we knew about the show. Every fan has been eagerly waiting to see Gandia (José Manuel Poga) get his just desserts for his cold-blooded killing of Nairobi (Alba Flores) last season. Season 4 ended with the gang chanting “For Nairobi!” at the end, a rallying cry for revenge. But the price of Gandia’s death was way too high. It cost the life of the show’s leading character, Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó), taking Money Heist in a completely new, much darker direction.

Tokyo’s death is one of the most daring character kills ever seen on television. It’s even more of a showstopper than the death of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in Game of Thrones. The Mother of Dragons...

Cobra Kai finds itself among television’s upper echelon with today’s 2021 Emmy nominations announcement, which named it as a nominee for Outstanding Comedy Series for January’s Netflix-debuted third season. The series, a decades-awaited sequel to The Karate Kid films, has seen its popularity increase exponentially after a migration from YouTube Premium to Netflix, on which the nominated season premiered. It’s quite the achievement when remembering the show’s less-than-auspicious 2018 launch.
The Emmy nominations highlight a second pandemic-altered year for the industry, further cementing the notion that the overwhelming majority of television’s heavy hitters now reside in the realm of streaming, rather than the airwaves. Notwithstanding a sole network sitcom straggler in Black-ish (ABC), the tonally-diverse comedy category proved no exception to that phenomenon, with Cobra Kai (Netflix) joining fellow streamers in Emily in Paris (Netflix), Hacks (HBO Max), The Flight Attendant (HBO Max), The Kominsky Method...

With Cobra Kai having recently wrapped production of its upcoming fourth season, speculation over the show’s escalating onscreen tensions is high amongst its growing legion of fans. However, the cast and crew of the Netflix-migrated series seemingly have black belts in the art of keeping an airtight lid on plot details and cast additions that could even give Marvel Studios a run for its substantial money. While the show’s creators were characteristically mum on Season 4 in a recent sit-down, they did offer intriguing thoughts on their successful creative mindset.
Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have turned The Karate Kid sequel series from a concept that, on paper, seemed destined to become an indulgent short-term burst of nostalgia into an engaging, humorous, pathos-packed series that was far too good to be trapped on its imploded original platform, YouTube Premium. Mike Medavoy, CEO of Phoenix Pictures, is partnering with Mariel Hemingway and producer Sam Sokolow on a limited series about the life and times of Ernest Hemingway, TheWrap has learned exclusively.
The series will explore the famous writer’s life as often fictionalized in classic novels like “A Farewell to Arms” and “The Sun Also Rises,” and will also delve into the unexplored psychological trauma that haunted him until he took his own life in 1961.
Stephen Leeds and Mark Chambers penned the pilot script and will also executive produce the project, which is not yet set up at a network or streamer.
“Hemingway was a genius, a soldier, a spy, a revolutionary, and counter to legend, one of the most sensitive writers of his era.” Medavoy said. “He won both a Pulitzer and a Nobel Prize for Literature, medals for bravery in both World Wars, and even survived two plane crashes in one day.

This Star Wars: The Mandalorian article contains spoilers.
Technically, Disney+’s The Mandalorian is part of the biggest franchise on earth. But it doesn’t always feel that way.
True, it’s a Star Wars property, and it rarely lets you forget that fact. The show is rife with references to the films and animated series that have come before it and it enjoys padding out existing lore in ways that only the most hardcore of fans will care about—or possibly even notice. (Did you remember there was a krayt dragon skeleton in A New Hope? Be honest.)
The Mandalorian isn’t a story that requires a tremendous amount of Star Wars knowledge to follow or enjoy. And that’s because its central tale is one that follows rules and patterns we’ve all seen before. A mix of tropes from classic spaghetti westerns and samurai adventures, the show...

October is here and you know what that means: time for the streaming services to put their spookiest foot forward. Amazon is doing its part for its new releases in October 2020 by rolling out some horror originals and library titles.
This is the month that the much-hyped Blumhouse horror anthology series Welcome to the Blumhouse arrives. “Episodes” of that, Black Box and The Lie launch on Oct. 6 and Evil Eye and Nocturne arrive on Oct. 13. Another horror-adjacent release of note is Truth Seekers, a comedy-horror series from Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.
That’s about it for notable originals. Thankfully October 1 brings the usual burst of fascinating library movie titles. A Knights Tale, Spaceballs, and The Departed all debut on the first of the month. Terminator: Dark Fate arrives on Oct. 9. The superb final season of Mr. Robot will be available on Oct. 6. Start playing Pixies “Where is My Mind?...

As we head into the last week of September, let’s look ahead at what’s coming to Amazon Prime in October. It’s the usual mix of great newly-licensed titles arriving at the top of the month and a range of original movies and TV shows dropping throughout the upcoming weeks. But, what with it being spooky season, this time Prime’s October haul is specifically geared towards giving you some scares during Halloween.
For starters, horror fans will not want to miss the launch of Blumhouse’s “Welcome to the Blumhouse” series with four original films going up across October. The first duo, Black Box and The Lie, land on Prime on October 6th. Then, a week later on the 13th, both Evil Eye and Nocturne debut. After a phenomenal season 1, The Boys are ready to rock in season 2 with new episodes being dropped every Friday on Amazon Prime Video. With a third season already on the cards, it appears as though the show's incredible cast is going to be around for a very long time.

The following contains spoilers for The Umbrella Academy season 2.
There’s so much to enjoy in The Umbrella Academy’s second season. The story is compelling, the character work is strong, and the music cues are incredibly on point. Season 2 effortlessly builds on many of the strengths of its predecessor, while placing its characters in new and intriguing situations. The dynamics between the Hargreeves children are richer and more complex than ever before, and the 1960s-era setting is just a ton of fun.
Season 2’s demonstrated ability to course correct for the better is precisely what makes its decision to double down one of the series’ worst character choices so frustrating. Two seasons in, The Umbrella Academy still has no idea what to do with Vanya, the most powerful Hargreeves child, whose long-simmering rage and pain almost destroyed the world…twice. Much of the series’ first season was more than...

This article contains The Umbrella Academy spoilers.
There’s no denying that The Umbrella Academy season 2 provided plenty of closure for the immediate dangers of Vanya’s explosive power, which was at the center of both apocalypses in the first two seasons. However, even though the Hargreeves siblings are no longer displaced in time, there’s plenty of conflict left to resolve. The Umbrella Academy season 3 won’t return for awhile, but we can take some educated guesses as to where things might be headed.
First of all, the likelihood of Five witnessing another world-ending scenario that he must convince his siblings to help him avoid is very low. It’s quite remarkable that The Umbrella Academy was able to return to that well in season 2 without becoming repetitive, but doing it a third time would probably be pushing it, especially since there are so many consequences that a season...

The following contains spoilers for NOS4A2 season 2 episode 7.
Despite having significant experience in the world of television, NOS4A2 showrunner Jami O’Brien, like the rest of us, isn’t quite sure where the industry is going to go. She’s as in the dark as anyone during the time of Covid-19 and a growing rift between online streaming services and traditional cable and broadcast television. However, rather than being intimidated, she’s game for the challenge.
“Every day it changes and I think it’s still changing. It may change again into something that we have no idea about, you know what I mean? But all that said, I mean any opportunity to make something, I embrace,” O’Brien told Den of Geek during a San Diego Comic-Con At Home interview.

Arriving more than a decade too late in both its inspirational and foundational appeal, “The Secret: Dare to Dream,” a fictionalized adaptation of author Rhonda Byrne’s popular self-help book “The Secret,” traipses through familiar territory without enhancing anyone’s insight. This story, about a financially and emotionally taxed family learning to find light in the darkness and love in chance encounters, is a blundering attempt to hawk books while aping another famous author’s patented style. Littered with confounding clichés and hokey devices, director/co-writer Andy Tennant’s feature is the exact inverse of what a passionate romance should aspire to be, let alone one preaching the power of positivity.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 ends on one hell of a cliffhanger. In the final moments of “Such Sweet Sorrow: Part 2,” Michael leads the Discovery through time, 950 years into the future, to keep the Sphere data from ever falling into the wrong hands. It’s a major narrative reset for a show that hasn’t always had a clear vision of what kind of story it wants to tell but has brought many delights as it searches for the answer. Many of those delights are tied up with the talented and charismatic cast for this show, all of whom were on hand to take part in the “Star Trek Universe” panel that was part of today’s Sdcc at Home schedule. As any TV critic who has had to hold down the shift bar and poke between letters and numbers on a keyboard before can tell you: “NOS4A2” is a strange name for a TV show.
To the uninitiated, it may take a moment to sound out what the code is meant to pronounce phonetically. And then once that mystery is unraveled, it only opens up a new set of questions as to the name’s real significance. That requires some thinking. And thinking is awful. So we’ve done the job here at Den of Geek of breaking down the meaning of AMC’s NOS4A2.
Joe Hill’s original novel NOS4A2 takes its title from a vanity license plate that adorns the 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith of one Charlie Manx. Charlie Manx (played by Zachary Quinto in the show) is an immortal creature who feeds off of children’s souls, and then...

Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is a superb television show for many reasons. The animation is lush and beautiful, the characters are richly-realized and human, and the action is relentless and thrilling, never giving in to the puritan notions of what “children’s entertainment” can or cannot depict.
There’s another, more underappreciated, reason for Avatar’s success however. The series quite simply knows exactly how much story it needs to tell and how to structure said story. Avatar: The Last Airbender lasted for three brilliant seasons, each one given an appropriate subtitle to complement the “Last Airbender” portion of its name, and each one featuring 20 half-hour episodes (though the final season was generously granted one extra installment).
Avatar: The Last Airbender was primed for success, and perhaps even perfection, through its very structure. Creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko were given a wide latitude to assemble the story as they saw fit,...
