Jennifer Love Hewitt is slated to return as Julie James in the 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' sequel. The 46-year-old actress starred in the 1997 horror flick as the slasher heroine, and the follow-up's director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has now teased Love Hewitt's comeback.Taking to Instagram, the 36-year-old filmmaker posted a photo of some mail addressed to her character Julie James and added the caption: "She’s baaaaaack @jenniferlovehewitt (sic)."As well as Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar – who starred in 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' as the ill-fated Helen Shivers – is also due to work on the upcoming sequel, though has insisted she will not be reprising her role as her character is "dead".Even so, Gellar teased she would have an "unofficial" role on the sequel working with Robinson. She told People: "My best friend is directing it, so...

2025 is in full swing, and with March just around the corner, it’s time for you to look ahead at the movies and series scheduled to depart Netflix throughout the month of March. The biggest notable TV series leaving is The Mindy Project, while hit films like Scooby-Doo and Love Again, among others, are also set to depart.
As always, Netflix’s library is constantly evolving. That means new titles are always on the way, but because Netflix licenses titles from big distributors, they’re not always on Netflix forever. When this license (or rental period) comes to an end, the movie or series leaves Netflix.
Note: This list will be constantly updated throughout February as we learn of more series and movies set to leave (typically 30 days before their departure). In the last few weeks of the month, Netflix...

Back in 2022, we got word that a new Friday the 13th TV series was in the works for Peacock. Now, we finally have our first bit of casting news, and it seems to have gone over very well with fans of the classic slasher franchise.
According to Jeff Sneider, Linda Cardellini is in early talks to take on the key role of Jason Voorhees' mother, Pamela, who was played by the late Betsy Palmer in the original.
Sneider believes that production is scheduled to commence this summer.
"Cardellini will soon begin filming HBO’s dark comedy series Dtf St. Louis with Jason Bateman and David Harbour, and I imagine that she’ll segue to Crystal Lake after that — and most likely this summer."
Brad Caleb Kane (Welcome to Derry) came on board as showrunner when Bryan Fuller parted ways with the project last year.

On Halloween of 2022, it was announced that original Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller – fresh off winning the U.S. copyright to the 1980 film after a lawsuit that stretched on for years – was teaming up with his lawyer Marc Toberoff, franchise rights holder Rob Barsamian, production company A24, the Peacock streaming service, and showrunner Bryan Fuller (whose credits include Hannibal and Pushing Daisies) to develop a new Friday the 13th streaming series called Crystal Lake. Things were moving ahead at a good pace, filming was expected to begin this July, but then the project hit a speed bump at the end of April with the firing of Fuller and his frequent collaborator Jim Danger Gray. Things got back on track in late August with the hiring of a new showrunner – and that person is Brad Caleb Kane, who also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer of It: Welcome to Derry,...

In 2022, a ‘Friday the 13th’ prequel series called ‘Crystal Lake’ was announced. It was originally being developed by Bryan Fuller and Victor Miller, with A24 producing and Peacock set to air it.
In January 2023, Adrienne King, who played Alice Hardy in the 1980 film, joined the cast in a secret role. Writing for the series began later that month, with Kevin Williamson contributing an episode.
However, in May 2024, Fuller was removed from the project as A24 decided to take a new creative approach. In August 2024, Brad Caleb Kane was named the new showrunner. The show is scheduled to premiere on Halloween 2025.
Now Jeff Sneider, a popular industry insider has potential news regarding the project. According to the report, actress Linda Cardellini is in discussions to portray Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother.

But that didn’t stop it from becoming a massive box office success, bringing in over $275 million worldwide. Now, more than twenty years later, it’s a fan-favorite cult classic, loved for its mix of humor and charm. The movie starred an incredible cast, including Freddie Prinze Jr., Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, who brought the beloved cartoon characters to life in fresh and exciting ways. After nearly three decades, Scream 7 is set to deliver one of the biggest twists in the franchise’s history — Matthew Lillard is returning as Stu Macher. The announcement, revealed by Deadline, has sparked speculation and excitement among horror fans, as the character was believed to have been definitively killed off in the 1996 original.
Lillard’s return marks a full-circle moment for the actor, whose role as the horror-obsessed, unhinged high schooler in Wes Craven’s Scream launched his career. While his character’s demise—via a television dropped on his head—seemed final, the Scream series has never shied away from bending its own rules. Whether through flashbacks, retcons, or unexpected narrative twists, the franchise has found ways to bring back past characters in surprising ways. The question remains: How is Stu still alive? Fans have speculated for years that he could have survived, perhaps resurfacing as a mastermind behind Ghostface killings all along.

Ask the average pop culture fan about Mindy Kaling and they’ll likely respond about her career as a writer, actor, and general celebrity. They’ll probably credit her, to varying degrees, for a range of projects she’s been on or behind the scenes of since “The Office,” but maybe not the specifics of her work as producer.
Kaling became a producer on “The Office,” but in 2012 founded Kaling International at the same time that she launched her own sitcom, “The Mindy Project.” Since then, the company has produced original titles across film and television, from the aforementioned single-cam sitcom to recent hits like “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” which concluded its third season on Max. To celebrate another season, we decided to revisit every Kaling International title as a primer or refresher for those interested in her work.

The best cartoon girl duos have ensured that generations of young women fell in love with animation as a medium. What’s more, pairings of female characters also account for some of the most iconic presences in cartoons and animation of all time. While male duos and boy-girl teams in cartoons are common, the world of animation is surprisingly light on pairs of female characters. Girls in cartoons tend to come in trios, groups, or on their own. However, this only ensures that the very best cartoon girl duos stand out.
Whether it’s classic characters from shows like The Flintstones or Scooby-Doo or pairs of heroines from animated movies from powerhouses like Disney or Pixar, each of the best cartoon girl duos brings something unique. They share a range of dynamics, with some being best friends, others sisters, with mother-daughter duos also being present too (and even some granddaughter-grandmother...

Doug Widley 1964 animated series "Jonny Quest," animated by Hanna-Barbera, only lasted 26 episodes, but for Gen-Xers, it may seem like a lot more. Thanks to a series of sweet, sweet syndication deals, along with the clever remixing and repackaging of the company's 1960s and 1970s shows, Hanna-Barbera cartoons remained in reruns for decades, allowing new generations to grow up watching "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?," "The Flintstones," and, uh, "Jabberjaw." For kids of the 1980s, not a Saturday slipped past without several Hanna-Barbera shows making their way into our eyeballs, often entirely by accident.
"Jonny Quest" always seemed to make its way into my generation's cartoon rotation, and many viewers my age became very fond of the show's chintzy, stilted animation, thick-lines drawing style, and stock "laser" sound effects. The premise was the stuff of boy's adventure novels: Jonny Quest (Tim Matheson) was an 11-year-old wunderkind who was skilled in martial arts,...

Countless beloved movies and TV shows have been revived in recent years, and now Buffy the Vampire Slayer could finally join those ranks due to some recent actor news. Initially released in 1997, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a paranormal drama following Buffy Summers, a teenage girl who is also known as the Slayer, a mythical figure who is destined to protect the world from vampires and other supernatural creatures. With the help of her best friends and her school's librarian, Buffy fulfills her duty, while also dealing with the typical problems of high schoolers.
There is no doubt that recent years have seen a spike in remakes, spinoffs, and revivals. Some of these have proven themselves to be successful, reigniting the love for older franchises. Of course, others have been less successful. Yet, these types of projects keep cropping up and making audiences yearn for their personal favorite series to make a return.

Linda Cardellini has been cast in a lead role opposite Jason Bateman and David Harbour in the upcoming HBO dark comedy limited series “Dtf St. Louis,” Variety has learned.
HBO gave the series a seven-episode order in November. It was originally announced as being in development back in 2022 with Harbour and Pedro Pascal attached to star and executive produce. It was originally inspired by the James Lasdun New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation.” However, the creative direction of the series evolved over time and it is now based on a wholly original idea with no connection to the original article and with Pascal no longer involved.
The official logline now states the show is “about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise, that leads to one of them ending up dead.” Cardellini will play Carol.

Friendship is one of the most common relationships portrayed in movies, with a few select on-screen duos being heartwarming examples of connection and support. From timeless animated pals like those in the Scooby-Doo franchise to newer on-screen friends seen in Wicked, friendship is presented in various ways. Several film characters are placed in friendships due to adventurous circumstances, but these duos come to be through more natural means of connection.
Part of why friendship is so often explored throughout films is because of the instant connection made with audiences. The most heartwarming movie friendships explore the highs and lows of platonic relationships that reflect those experienced by audiences in real life. This includes being there for one another through challenging life changes and feeling insecure about the security of one's friendship, as seen in films like Toy Story and Bridesmaids, respectively.

Some heroes undergo villain arcs across multiple movies, but it's even more surprising when a character is completely reimagined in a new movie as one of the bad guys. Unlike Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars or Michael Corleone in The Godfather, these characters don't gradually get pulled toward the dark side. Instead, they are pre-existing popular heroes who show up as villains in different movies to provide a shock.
Reinventing a hero as a villain doesn't work for all characters. Audiences would likely reject a movie with James Bond, Ellen Ripley or Spider-Man as a villain, because this would represent a betrayal of what the stories are supposed to be. The best candidates for an unexpected heel turn are either secondary heroes like the Wizard of Oz, or characters so old that they have already had dozens of different stories told about them, like the Fairy Godmother in Shrek.

On December 31, 2020, film/TV critic David Opie tweeted, "No one is 'born bi,' you watch 'Scooby-Doo' at a formative age and the whole cast turns you bi." The post, featuring photos of the cast of the 2002 "Scooby-Doo" movie, received 19,000 retweets and 135,000 likes, which might seem strange considering that there's nothing about the movie that has anything to do with bisexuality. At least, not on paper.
The vibes, however, are indeed pretty queer. The movie stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Linda Cardellini as Velma, and Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, all of whom are beloved within the queer community for one reason or another. More importantly, "Scooby Doo" as a franchise has always had a strong queer fanbase. Part of that's due to how the cartoon's aesthetics borrowed heavily from the countercultural movement of the '60s and '70s, and partly it's because of how precious a character Velma is.

In the "Gilligan's Island" episode "New Neighbor Sam," the castaways begin hearing mysterious voices from the bushes. Suspecting there are other people on the island, several of them go to investigate and discover -- after some slapstick shenanigans, of course -- that the voices were all coming from a talking macaw. The macaw identifies itself as Sam, and the Professor (Russell Johnson) tries to get the bird to say more, hoping to glean more information as to where it came from. The macaw also speaks like a gangster, so the Professor figures it must have once belonged to a career criminal, but somehow escaped and flew to their island.
The Professor's suspicions are confirmed when Sam steals a diamond belonging to Mrs. Howell (Natalie Schafer) and tries to abscond with it. Clearly, this macaw knows about jewels. Eventually, the castaways find the cave where the parrot had been hiding, and...

Warning: Contains Spoilers for MultiVersus: Collision Detected #5! Scooby-Doo is famously a franchise for fans of all ages, as the mysteries and shenanigans Scooby, Shaggy, and the rest of the Mystery Gang go on are usually silly, low-stakes adventures that always have a happy ending. Warning: Spoilers for The Batman and Scooby-Doo Mysteries #11!
The question whether or not Commissioner Jim Gordon always knew Barbara Gordon was Batgirl can now be accurately answered. The comics seldom get a chance to delve into if the original champion of Gotham knows his daughter is a crimefighter, at least in recent memory. Barb is more active as an Oracle nowadays, while Gordon is usually paired in stories with Batman more often than he is Batgirl.
However, The Batman and Scooby-Doo Mysteries #11 by Sholly Fisch, Puste, Carrie Strachan, and Saida Temfonte presents a rare pairing between Commissioner Gordon and Batgirl. The ending hints that Commissioner Gordon always knew that Barbara Gordon was Batgirl.
A moment like this strikes a specific curiosity in a reader. It begs one to wonder if within the actual main canon of DC Comics lore, did Gordon ever knew that Barb was also the often badass Batgirl/Oracle?...

Dancing With the Stars has opened the door for new opportunities for some celebrities who have competed on the show. Model Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko's showmance made constant headlines. Even former mirrorball trophy winner and 90s actor, Alfonso Ribeiro, found himself with a brand-new career as the show's co-host.
However, not every celebrity who gets approached to be on DWTS finds it a great opportunity for their career. A certain Hollywood actor turned down the chance to be a contestant for fears that he wouldn't be able to land any more serious acting roles. For this actor, the thought of competing on the beloved reality TV show would just do the opposite for his career.

James Gunn is a curious figure in popular culture. As a young man, just rising in the film business, Gunn co-wrote the witty and disgusting Troma epic "Tromeo & Juliet" with Lloyd Kaufman, and it featured kinky sex, a bisexual Juliet, cow monsters, mutant penis creatures, and an opening narration by Lemmy from Motörhead. After that, Gunn took the piss out of the superhero genre with "The Specials," a low-low budget film about what superheroes — petty jerks, mostly — do on their day off. He stayed aloft in Hollywood writing the screenplays for two surreal "Scooby-Doo" movies, and Zack Snyder's remake of "Dawn of the Dead" before making his directorial debut in 2006 with "Slither," another gross movie about body-invading worm monsters and wacko mutants.
Gunn then deconstructed superheroes even further with "Super" in 2010, a film that hypothesizes that superheroes are mentally ill and addicted to extreme violence. "Super" is bleak,...

Matthew Lillard admits that 'Scream' didn't change much for his career. The 54-year-old star portrayed Stu Macher in the original 1996 film in Wes Craven's horror franchise and acknowledged that it didn't have the same transformative effect for him compared to leading stars such as David Arquette and Neve Campbell.Speaking to Collider, Matthew said: "It changed a lot of people's trajectory. Matthew Lillard says that he had to readjust his expectations for his career after Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed received negative reviews and underperformed at the box office. Lillard played Shaggy Rogers in both of the theatrical live action movies based on the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon. After the failure of the second movie, a third film was canceled, and the live-action version of the Scooby-Doo franchise moved to TV movies for Cartoon Network, which starred Nick Palatas as Shaggy.
While speaking with Business Insider, Lillard shared that after starring in the Scooby-Doo films, he thought they would take his career to new heights and that he would become a leading actor. Instead, however, the star acknowledged that the immediate aftermath led to a bit of a rough patch for him:
I thought I'd be No. 1 on the call sheet for the next 10 years of movies. And the reality was the exact opposite happened.

Matthew Lillard has one big reason why he turned down an opportunity to compete on Dancing With the Stars.
The actor recently opened up to Business Insider about his early career struggles, specifically after 2004’s Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed bombed at the box office, much to his surprise.

As a result, Lillard was forced to reevaluate his career, and that’s when his team at the time pitched him on joining ABC’s dancing competition series. However, the actor wasn’t jumping at the idea.

Matthew Lillard had much, much higher expectations for the infamous 2004 box-office bomb “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.”

Supernatural has numerous episodes that take place in alternate universes, and one of them sees Sam and Dean Winchester existing in the same one as Batman. Although Supernatural has its share of serious episodes, the CW series makes sure to lighten the mood throughout its 15-season run. Sam and Dean's journey has plenty of humorous moments to balance the tragic ones, and it occasionally embraces off-the-wall storytelling that helps it stand out among other great supernatural TV shows.

Matthew Lillard would like to return to the 'Scream' franchise - even though his character was supposedly killed off.The 54-year-old actor played the role of Stu in the first installment of the spoof horror franchise and plans to bring his character back to life were "justifiably" shelved following the Columbine High School massacre of 1999 but he still "dreams" that one day he could return. He told MovieWeb: "On 'The Drew Barrymore Show', I said that was Stu was still alive. I don't know anyone who has ever said 'I don't want any part in this franchise ever again!' There's a world in which he is alive. In the third sequel, he was running kids from prison and having kids do horrible things, and the reason that didn't happen was because Columbine High School happened right before we went into production and, justifiably so, they...

The 2002 live-action Scooby-Doo movie had a great villain twist, and it was the perfect response to a decades-long complaint about the franchise and one specific character. Since 1969, Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang have been solving all types of spooky mysteries, with their very peculiar sense of humor. After many animated movies, Scooby-Doo and his friends finally made the jump to the big screen with a live-action movie. Simply titled Scooby-Doo, the movie was directed by Raja Gosnell and written by James Gunn, and it starred some of the most popular actors of the 2000s.
Scooby-Doo sees the Mystery Inc. gang reuniting two years after parting ways, as they are hired by Emile Mondavarious (Rowan Atkinson) to solve a mystery at Spooky Island, his horror-themed tropical resort. Mondavarious explains that the guests, all of them teenagers and young adults, have fallen under a demonic curse, and only Scooby and the gang can solve this mystery.

These days, James Gunn is known for giving us the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies and for heading up the new DC Studios over at Warner Bros. As the director gears up to unleash his "Superman" movie, we're all eager to see whether Gunn can finally make DC truly competitive in the superhero movie marketplace, even as audience interest may be waning.
Of course, "Superman" isn't Gunn's first foray into DC territory. Prior to helming DC Studios, his bloody, messy sequel "The Suicide Squad" was well-received even as a day-and-date pandemic release hampered its commercial performance. Meanwhile, his TV series "Peacemaker" was a vulgar, violent masterpiece, and will soon return for a second season that is set to meld DC animation and live-action. His "Guardians" movies for Marvel had been family-friendly affairs, and both of these DC projects allowed the director to embrace a more lurid, adult sensibility, and it...

Over 60 years, there have been a massive number of Addams Family shows and movies, and here are the Addams Family movies in order. From the pages of magazines to television to the big screen, America's favorite gothic and macabre clan have experienced their fair share of trials and tribulations. Created by cartoonist Charles Addams in 1938, this dynasty of freaks, fiends, and weirdos is the subject of both animated and live-action cinematic projects. Which continues to this day, as Wednesday season 2 has been renewed for Netflix.
While the Wednesday season 2 release date is still far away, there's a dark trove of older Addams Family TV shows and movies to dive straight into. Netflix's Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega as the iconic eponymous character took the world by storm, making it seem very likely that there will be plenty more Addams Family content in the years to come. As the latest iteration of...

However, after a series of financial missteps, failed marriages, and her infamous s*x tape scandal with ex-husband Tommy Lee, Anderson’s net worth shrunk down to a sum that isn’t even close to what it used to be.
