Netflix is removing several titles in March of 2025, including a selection of movies on the first of the month!

If you’re on Netflix often, you’ll remember seeing one of these films in the top 10 most watched section recently. Cillian Murphy, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Holland‘s In the Heart of the Sea was actually the number 1 movie on Netflix in early January, and now it’s being removed next month.

There’s lots of other fan favorite titles included, so be sure to scroll through the whole list. And mark your calendars to make sure to stream some of these titles before they’re gone for good!

2025 is in full swing, and with March just around the corner, it’s time for you to look ahead at the movies and series scheduled to depart Netflix throughout the month of March. The biggest notable TV series leaving is The Mindy Project, while hit films like Scooby-Doo and Love Again, among others, are also set to depart.

As always, Netflix’s library is constantly evolving. That means new titles are always on the way, but because Netflix licenses titles from big distributors, they’re not always on Netflix forever. When this license (or rental period) comes to an end, the movie or series leaves Netflix.

Back in 2022, we got word that a new Friday the 13th TV series was in the works for Peacock. Now, we finally have our first bit of casting news, and it seems to have gone over very well with fans of the classic slasher franchise.

According to Jeff Sneider, Linda Cardellini is in early talks to take on the key role of Jason Voorhees' mother, Pamela, who was played by the late Betsy Palmer in the original.

Sneider believes that production is scheduled to commence this summer.

"Cardellini will soon begin filming HBO’s dark comedy series Dtf St. Louis with Jason Bateman and David Harbour, and I imagine that she’ll segue to Crystal Lake after that — and most likely this summer."

Brad Caleb Kane (Welcome to Derry) came on board as showrunner when Bryan Fuller parted ways with the project last year.

On Halloween of 2022, it was announced that original Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller – fresh off winning the U.S. copyright to the 1980 film after a lawsuit that stretched on for years – was teaming up with his lawyer Marc Toberoff, franchise rights holder Rob Barsamian, production company A24, the Peacock streaming service, and showrunner Bryan Fuller (whose credits include Hannibal and Pushing Daisies) to develop a new Friday the 13th streaming series called Crystal Lake. Things were moving ahead at a good pace, filming was expected to begin this July, but then the project hit a speed bump at the end of April with the firing of Fuller and his frequent collaborator Jim Danger Gray. In 2022, a ‘Friday the 13th’ prequel series called ‘Crystal Lake’ was announced. It was originally being developed by Bryan Fuller and Victor Miller, with A24 producing and Peacock set to air it.

In January 2023, Adrienne King, who played Alice Hardy in the 1980 film, joined the cast in a secret role. Writing for the series began later that month, with Kevin Williamson contributing an episode.

However, in May 2024, Fuller was removed from the project as A24 decided to take a new creative approach. In August 2024, Brad Caleb Kane was named the new showrunner. The show is scheduled to premiere on Halloween 2025.

James Gunn has had a filmography that has made him a mainstay of the superhero cinema. Be it The Suicide Squad, The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, or Superman, it is easy to forget that the man is responsible for some of the greatest live-action adaptations of some of the most famed childhood cartoons.

Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed, are some of the most fondly remembered films in James Gunn’s filmography before his mainstream superhero days. Both these films had a cast that could perfectly portray the characters, and now, they are readily available to stream.

Both of the seminal films that managed to translate one of the most iconic animated properties to live-action are now streaming on Netflix, making them more accessible than ever to the modern audience.

To kick off 2025, Netflix has added a new slate of films to its streaming library, highlighted by Dune: Part Two. Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi blockbuster, which Consequence named the fourth best film of 2024, is streaming on the service as of January 1st.

Dune: Part Two, which stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, and more, remains available to stream on Max. The first Dune movie can also be streamed on both Netflix and Max. Additionally, both films are available to purchase together in 4K Uhd.

Other new titles available to stream on Netflix as of January 1st include Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire; Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga; Horizon: An American Saga: Chapter 1; The Watchers; Inception; Meet the Parents and its sequels Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers; Apollo 13; Love Actually; Schindler’s List; the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy; Rush Hour franchise; and Bruce Almighty.

Countless beloved movies and TV shows have been revived in recent years, and now Buffy the Vampire Slayer could finally join those ranks due to some recent actor news. Initially released in 1997, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a paranormal drama following Buffy Summers, a teenage girl who is also known as the Slayer, a mythical figure who is destined to protect the world from vampires and other supernatural creatures. With the help of her best friends and her school's librarian, Buffy fulfills her duty, while also dealing with the typical problems of high schoolers.

There is no doubt that recent years have seen a spike in remakes, spinoffs, and revivals. Some of these have proven themselves to be successful, reigniting the love for older franchises. India’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment has tapped Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu for her Bollywood debut in “Baaghi 4.” The announcement comes exactly three years after Sandhu’s Miss Universe win.

The film, helmed by director A. Harsha, will feature Sandhu alongside established stars Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt, with Sonam Bajwa rounding out the cast. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala continues his track record of launching new talent, following his previous introductions of Shroff, Kriti Sanon and Ahan Shetty to Hindi-language cinema.

Sandhu previously acted in the Punjabi-language films “Bai Ji Kuttange” (2022) and “Yaaran Diyan Poun Baaran” (2023).

“Baaghi 4,” the latest installment in Nadiadwala’s action franchise, is slated for theatrical release on Sept. 5, 2025.

Banijay Entertainment has secured worldwide format rights to “My Name Is Gabriel” (“Mai Neim Ijeu Gabeuriel”) from Korea’s Teo Corp. The format, created by P.D. Kim Tae-ho (“Infinite Challenge”) and P.D.

Linda Cardellini has been cast in a lead role opposite Jason Bateman and David Harbour in the upcoming HBO dark comedy limited series “Dtf St. Louis,” Variety has learned.

HBO gave the series a seven-episode order in November. It was originally announced as being in development back in 2022 with Harbour and Pedro Pascal attached to star and executive produce. It was originally inspired by the James Lasdun New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation.” However, the creative direction of the series evolved over time and it is now based on a wholly original idea with no connection to the original article and with Pascal no longer involved.

The official logline now states the show is “about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise, that leads to one of them ending up dead.” Cardellini will play Carol.

Some heroes undergo villain arcs across multiple movies, but it's even more surprising when a character is completely reimagined in a new movie as one of the bad guys. Unlike Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars or Michael Corleone in The Godfather, these characters don't gradually get pulled toward the dark side. Instead, they are pre-existing popular heroes who show up as villains in different movies to provide a shock.

Reinventing a hero as a villain doesn't work for all characters. Audiences would likely reject a movie with James Bond, Ellen Ripley or Spider-Man as a villain, because this would represent a betrayal of what the stories are supposed to be. The best candidates for an unexpected heel turn are either secondary heroes like the Wizard of Oz, or characters so old that they have already had dozens of different stories told about them, like the Fairy Godmother in Shrek.
