Sadly, the world is still being held hostage by COVID-19; but it's high time to get back to some sense of normalcy. In my case, that means returning to what I do best... eating. After months of home cooking and takeaway, I decided to visit one of my favorite restaurants in DC, Pisco y Nazca Ceviche Gastrobar. Their bustling patio along L Street, NW was literally calling yelling out my name; and who am I, to say no to the best Peruvian food in the DMV?

2941 Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Falls Church, Virginia at 2941 Fairview Park Drive, is pleased to unveil a new monthly tasting series. Led by Bar Director Nikki Drake, tastings will be held from 6-7:00 PM in the restaurant’s full-service bar on the last Friday of each month. Beverage classes are priced from $25 to $35 per person (all inclusive), which includes half-ounce tasting pours of featured spirits, three-ounce pours of featured wine and five-ounce pours of featured beer along with passed hors d’oeuvres and keepsake recipe cards/tasting notes. Park Hyatt Washington, D.C. General Manager Terry Dunbar is pleased to announce the appointment of Jean-Claude Plihon as the hotel’s new director of culinary and food & beverage operations. Plihon will oversee all culinary operations for the award-winning Blue Duck Tavern, 24-hour room service, and banquet operations of the landmark award-winning hotel, which is situated in the heart of the nation’s capital. Plihon joins the Park Hyatt Washington, D.C. team from Dallas where he served for 10 years as executive chef of the AAA four-diamond Grand Hyatt DFW. Under his leadership, Grand Hyatt DFW flourished, and Plihon was recently honored as 2019 Texas Chef Association’s Dallas Chef of the Year. Tuesday nights feature acclaimed singer songwriter, global cuisine, and handcrafted cocktails in Penn Quarter

Dirty Habit, in collaboration with Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC welcomes Allison Balanc, a native Washingtonian neo-soul singer and songwriter for “Green Room at Hotel Monaco” on December 3, 10, and 17. The live music series features local musicians on Tuesday nights from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Guests can relish the show in the hotel’s emerald green living room-style lobby while enjoying bites from Dirty Habit’s Executive Chef Kyoo Eom and cocktails from Beverage Manager Drew Hairston. The series is open to the public and free to attend. For the cooler months, the Conrad Washington, DC will bring a taste of the French and Italian Alps to CityCenterDC. Launching this Friday, November 22nd in collaboration with Moncler, the Conrad’s third floor terrace will transform into a luxurious Après Ski experience complete with mountain lodge décor and European-inspired specialty cocktails and shareable dishes. Guests are invited to snuggle up next to the outdoor fire pits with provided blankets and enjoy thermoses for two of Hot Buttered Rum and ‘Haute’ Toddies. Offerings from the special terrace menu, available in full here, include wines by the glass, beers, cocktails and an extensive Fromage et Charcuterie Board featuring Tomme de Savoie and Saucisson d’Alsace salami served with house-made persimmon mostarda and accompaniments, Croque Madame au Confit de Canard prepared with duck confit, duck prosciutto and gruyere, and fireside S’mores with chocolate ganache and chocolate rocks.

Whisky Extravaganza Returns to Nation's Capital, November 15th


It's back! DC Outlook's favorite annual drinking event, Whisky Extravaganza returns to Washington, DC on Friday, November 15th. This year's soiree moves from JW Marriott to the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, one of the most majestic venues in the DMV, and features a pair of masterclasses (starting at 6:30) light bites and dozens of superb whisky tastings. Drake has 10 years of experience in the restaurant industry, with five of those devoted to working for bars and bartending in Virginia. Twelve handcrafted libations and two zero-proof mocktails have been added to the menu showcasing herbs and fruits, spices, and house-made infusions.
