Meridianbet Becomes Sponsor of FC AEL Limassol

Betting operator Meridianbet announced today that they've become the exclusive sponsor of Cypriot-based FC AEL Limassol in what is being called the largest football sponsorship in the country's history.

The agreement will see Meridianbet serving in the sponsorship role for the 2024-25 season, which will be getting underway in August. Meridianbet's logo will be placed on the team's kit and will also get other marketing rights related to the team. Financial terms of the deal weren't made publicly available, but the deal is considered to be the largest in terms of scope and investment in the history of Cyprus.

FC AEL Limassol plays in the Cypriot Top Division and was founded in 1930. The club plays its home games at Alphamega Stadium, which has a capacity of 11,000.

Meridianbet was founded in 2001 and is based out of the Mediterranean island Malta. The operator is present in more than 35 countries across four continents and it offers both retail and online sportsbetting services.

Regarding the deal, AEL Limassol Chairman Andreas Georgiou said: "It is with great pleasure that we present our major sponsor for the 2024-25 season.

"The partnership with Meridianbet represents the largest commercial agreement in our football department's history, heralding a new chapter filled with optimism for the future. We share the same values and vision for the future, and we are confident that together we will achieve great success."

Meridianbet CEO for Cyprus Chrysothemi Valanidou added: "We are delighted to announce this new partnership between Meridianbet and AEL.

"As one of the top betting companies globally, becoming the official sponsor of AEL is part of our strategy to promote sports and fair play. Our decision to support AEL is based on shared ambitions, and we are convinced that together we will bring success and excitement to the fans."
