Novomatic Gets German Slot License

Online casino gaming group Novomatic has announced that they've been granted a gaming license in Germany, allowing its subsidiary BluBet Operations to provide gaming services through the novoline.de domain.

The licensing makes Novomatic the sixth company to be provided with a gaming license in Germany, coming in with a slate of other operators that have also been granted permission to provide services. Merkur and The Mill Adventure were granted licenses to operate last week.

Germany began allowing for regulated online gaming last year, but has been slow putting out licenses from operators. Each operator is taxed at a rate of 5.3% on turnover for the games.

No comment from Novomatic was available as of press time.

It is funny to see a country like Germany really doing a slow drip into iGaming, whereas you have a province like Ontario that's basically taking anyone they can to offer gambling in a widespread way. Not saying one strategy is right and one is wrong, but it is interesting to see the difference!
