Compass& original swivel assembly work excellent. Brass is all solid with a couple of minor dents. The glass is intact with no chips or cracks. Up for auction is a NICE VINTAGE KELVIN AND HUGHES LTD SHIP BINNACLE COMPASS. It measures 53.5" tall to the top of the lantern handle. It measures 28" from the tip of the"ball" support arm to the other support arm tip. The base measures 17.25" square. The face of the"dry face" compass measures 8.75" The serial# is 1653 J.E. A very nice example of an early Kelvin and Hughes binnacle. It includes the original lantern w/ font and burner. It also has it's original map holder. The compass seems to work properly. All glass is intact. Minor dents to brass hood. Nicely patina on all brass. The hardwood cabinet is in it's original finish with minor wear commiserate with age. One picture show a board missing behind one of the doors.the board has just detached and is still inside the column. The compass ... moreis missing the hardware that holds it down at the pins.
