Giving myself a little cheer as I finally completed the last regiment for VI Corps. They had sat half painted while I was distracted by the Spanish Civil War and Cold War projects. But this week I made a conscious effort to get them done. 

The figures are all from Outpost miniatures and the flag is from Maverick Models.

So here is VI Corps all together. I also have a separate Cavalry division, not pictured, to support them.

So pleased they are done. I can now think about completing another French division to balance out my forces.

7 down and 1 to go. This is the 7th completed regiment for the Prussian VI Corps, the 62nd Infantry regiment. Like the rest of the Corps, these are all from Outpost miniatures and the flag is from Maverick models. The tunics have turned out slightly darker than I wanted. I bought a new Sepia ink which is much lighter than that previously used. I added a bit too much black, hence the darker coats.

After what seems like an age, I finally completed another Prussian infantry regiment for the 12th Division of VI Corps. Like the rest of the Corps, the figures are all from Outpost miniatures and the flag is from Maverick Models.

After these there are just the remaining 2 infantry regiments to complete for 12th Division. I will be pleased to get these last 60 figures done. All that's left to do would be an extra horse artillery battery to complete my Cavalry division and I will be happy with the completion of VI Corps. I may even move onto a few french units later in the year.

A chance to make a bit more progress on the Peussian VI Corps. This time I've completed four 4pdrs to cover the artillery for the 12th Division and the Corps artillery. I already have the 4 6pdrs on the painting table to complete both batteries.
All four guns and crew are from Outpost miniatures. 

Despite the festive period I have been able to make a start on the Prussian 12th Division under Hoffman as part of VI Corps. These are representing the 22nd Infantry regiment. The figures are all from Outpost miniatures and the flag is from Maverick Models.

I've also received a fresh order from Outpost, this gives me 8 artillery pieces and some extra cavalry to work on before I add anymore infantry. Once these are done I can switch over to the French which need a few additions to balance the forces out.

These are the 3rd Dragoon regiment. I'll be using these as the start of XII Division. Unlike the rest of my Prussian cavalry which are from Essex miniatures, these are from Outpost miniatures.

I've now got the first infantry regiment awaiting undercoating. Hopefully I can make progress on these shortly. I've also put in an order with Outpost for another 8 artillery pieces, some Uhlans and more Dragoons.

After spending a lot of time on other projects, I finally got the last regiment completed for 11th Division. Like the rest of the collection these are Outpost figures and represent the 38th Infantry regiment. The flag is from Maverick Models.

So that completes 11th Division as part of VI Corps. I am currently using a detachment of Hussars instead of Dragoons, simply because they are the figures I have available. I will eventially replace them with a Dragoon detachment. So here is the completed Division.

I can now look to complete 12th Division. I have all the infantry tgat I need but will need to pick up 8 artillery pieces, some Dragoons and Uhlans. Plenty to keep me occupied.

Finally managed to get the bases completed on the 3rd unit for 11th Division. These will represent the 51st regiment. Like the previous 2 regiments; the figures are all from Outpost and the flag is from Maverick Models.

Unlike the previous 2 regiments, these have a mix of poses. Not sure which I prefer.

I'm slowly chipping away at the Franco Prussian war lead mountain. This time some extra commanders and the artillery for Gordon's XI Division.

The figures are mainly Outpost with the Buglar from Essex. He was lying around in the spares pile and thought I'd put it to use.

The guns for XI Division are a mix of 4 and 6pdrs. I've represented them as 2 of each. These are also from Outpost. It is quite difficult to tell the guns apart. The 2 on the left are the 6pdrs.

Now I just have the last 2 infantry regiments to do to complete the Division. I'll then either move on to XII Division or possibly switch to some French XII Corps.

This is the second infantry unit completed for VI Corps, the 10th. They are given an honorific title as Grenadiers.

Like the last regiment the figures are all from Outpost and the flag is from Maverick Models. However this time I did the coats slightly lighter shade of blue than the last unit. I had taken a couple of photos at the museum at Gravelotte and find that the coats are not quite as dark as I thought.

As can be seen, there is little difference between the French and Prussian coat colour.

In a slight change from painting ancients and 28mm figures, I decided to add the first full Prussian infantry regiment for my Franco Prussian war collection. These are painted up to represent the 18th Infantry regiment that was part of the 11th Division under Gordon as of the 1st August 1870. The figures are all from Outpost miniatures and the flag is from Maverick Models.

Pleased to finally complete my first Prussian infantry for this collection. Just 7 more regiments to complete, then I can add the artillery and some Dragoons.
