No. 19,853. Patented Oct. 15, 1889.
O T m y m :ftiomeyx.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES DVVYER, 013 DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPEGIFICATIOX forming part of Design No. 19,353, dated October 15, 1889.
Application filed August 19, 1889- Serial No. 321,303. Term of patent 7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES DWYER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Design in Base-Burner Stoves; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification.
The drawing is a perspective View of a stove illustrating my design.
The design consists, essentially, of a footsection having plain feet with shell-shaped ornament at the top of the feet and with intermediate bands of scroll-work and rosettes, as shown at A. Upon this is a base-section B, of somewhat smaller area and sloping upward and inward, provided with a long ornamented name-plate across the face, the section itself being ornamented substantially as shown. Upon this base-section is an ash-pit section swelled out to the front and orna mented with scrolls and rosettes, as shown at 0. Upon the front of this section is a footrail with embossed shell ornamentation sustained by brackets, the upper ends of which are fastened to the section C at its upper edge. The foot is shown at C and thebrackets at 0. At the top of this section is an outstanding flange D and a fire-pot section D, provided with mica doors, each door having upright and transverse slats with scroll-work woven therewith. Foot rails E are provided at the ends of the stove opposite the ash-pit section. They are ornamented with embossed work, and are supported at their ends by brackets, which start from the base of the ashpit' section and terminate at or near the top of the fire-pot section, substantially as shown. Above the fire-pot section is a projecting flange F, and above this is a combustionchamber section with mica lights divided by upright and transverse slats, with which are interwoven scrolls. This is surmounted by a top section G, dish-shaped on its front and its sides, ornamented on its face with medallions and rosettes surrounded by shell scrolls, the upper curved portions being ornamented with small chccksin imitation of inlaid work. At the corners of this section are upright projecting columns in the form of a birds leg and claws, with wings at the top. The top of the stove is ornamented, as shown at G and II, with scroll-work and rosettes, and the whole is surmounted by an ornamental figure I.
What I claim is 1. The design for a stove, the same consistin g of foot-section, base-section, fire-pot, ashpit, and combustion-chamber sections, and top and foot rails, shaped and ornamented sub stantially as shown.
2. In the design for a stove, the body consisting of the base-section, firepot section, and ash-pot section, and in connection there with the ornamental foot-rail on the front of the ash-pit section, supported by brackets located thereon, and the foot-rails at the sides of the ash-pit section, supported by brackets extending from its base to the top of the firepot section above, substantially as shown.
3. In the design for a stove, the mica doors divided by transverse and upright slats having scrolls woven therewith, substantially as shown.
4. In the design for a stove, the top G, dish shaped at its front and sides, ornamented with shell scrolls and medallions or rosettes, and with projecting claw and wing columns at the corners, substantially as shown.
5. In the design for a stove, the foot-section with plain feet, shell ornamented at the top, and with intermediate bands of scroll-work and rosettes, substantially as shown.
In testimony whereof I sign this speoifica tion in the presence of two witnesses.
J AMES DWYER.
Witnesses:
