SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 509,341, dated November 21, 1893. Application filed October 20, 1892. Serial No. 449,466. (No modal.) Patented in England April 22, 1892, No; 7,604.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known thatI, WILLIAM lVIATTHEW WARD, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at London, England, have invented an Improved Safety-Purse, (which has been patented to me in Great Britain under No. 7,604, dated as of the 22d day of April, 1892;) of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to purses for carrying money, and particularlyto those used by ladies for the purpose of shopping; and has for its object the provision of improved safety devices, whereby the purse is attached to the person, and cannot thus be lost, left on the counter, snatched away, or stolen in any manner.

My invention consists in certain peculiar flexible attachments for attaching the purse to the wrist or hand, so that it cannot be snatched therefrom.

In order that my invention may be the better understood I will now describe it 'in relation to the drawings hereunto annexed, reference being had to the letters marked thereon.

Like letters refer to like parts in the various figures.

Figure l is a general view of a purse with my attachment affixed thereto. Fig. 2 is a view showing a purse so attached to the wrist. Fig. 3 is a view showing the attaching eyes A arranged upon the metal frame of the purse B.

To carry out my invention, a'pair of such attaching eyes A, in the form of rings, is permanently secured to the edge of the purse B, preferably at one corner, as shown; two short chains 0, are permanently connected with each other and with one end of a bracelet-chain D by a ring F, and all three of the chains are provided at their outer ends with swiveled snap hooks E. be opened and closed and anything can be extracted from or put into it without disconnecting it from the chain or wrist.

Having now described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is In combination with a purse provided with attaching rings A A, apair of short chains 0 O and a bracelet-chain D permanently connected with each other at one end of each by a ring F, and provided at their outer ends with snap-hooks E interlocking respectively with said rings A and with said ring F, substantially as shown and described.
