Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent loss of feeding liquid and wear of gland packing, etc. to the utmost by returning the leaked liquid from gland part into a pump through the returning passage provided in the pump rotating shaft.
CONSTITUTION: Because the pump suction side and the opening portion of the leaked liquid passage 9 which is provided to an impeller fastening nut 10 are in a condition of reduced pressure caused by the rotation of a pump impeller, the suction port of the suction ring 3, fixed to a shaft 7 at an appropriate position and connected with the leaked liquid passage 9, is also in a condition of reduced pressure compared to that of the oil seal 1 portion. Therefore, the liquid, leaked to near the suction port of the suction ring 3, is flowed into the suction port and is returned again to the pump suction side through the return passage 8, provided to the shaft 7, and the leaked liquid passage 9. In this way, the leaked liquid is sucked by utilizing the reduced pressure condition in the suction side of the pump in operation and is returned to the pump suction side, thus loss of feeding liquid and wear of gland packing, etc. can be prevented to the utmost.
