Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable no-leakage sealing-up independently of the size of a deformation allowance, by providing an annular end face lip on the end face of a packing to effectively utilize the pressure difference between the discharge side and suction side of a pump to cause a seal-up action.
CONSTITUTION: A guide vane 6 is attached to the end face of a bracket 2 around a runner 4. The guide vane 6, a motor 1, a motor shaft 3, the runner 4, a shaft seal-up unit 5, etc. are surrounded by a casing 8 and a packing 7. Another packing 9 is provided between the guide vane and the casing 8. The packing 9 comprises an annular part 10, a cylinder 12, the end face lip 14 and an annular groove 15 located between the cylinder and the lip. The cylinder 12 surrounds a part of the guide vane 6 and is integrally formed on the top of the annular part 10. The end face lip 14 is integrally formed on the bottom of the part 10. The packing 9 surely produces a seal-up effect by the cylinder 12 at the top and by the self-sealing action of the end face lip 14 at the bottom.
