Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure and select the holding current of a thyristor in a short time, by causing a constant current of the rated value to flow into the thyristor beforehand, applying on/off signals from a gate terminal, and detecting the conductive or nonconductive state at that time. CONSTITUTION:When constant current Is is applied from a constant-current generator circuit 10 to a thyristor 1 to be measured, anode potential VAK reaches the saturated voltage of the constant-current generator circuit 10. Here, an on signal VG is applied to the gate terminal 4 of the thyristor 1 to once make the thyristor 1 conductive. When the on signal VG is removed from the gate terminal 4, the thyristor 1 returns to the nonconductive state, if the holding current IH of the thyristor 1 is larger than the reference current Is. Whereas, if the holding current IH is smaller than the reference current IS, the thyristor retains the conductive state. Namely, the holding current is selected by detecting the conduction state of the thyristor 1 with the use of a comparator 11, when the on signal VG is removed from the gate terminal 4 of the thyristor 1. Through said constitution, the holding current is measured and selected in a short time.
