Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure more natural and easy-to-read print, by including the character pitch information about each character into the character generator and then producing the dot signals in accordance with the character.
CONSTITUTION: For instance, the 8-bit character codes b0Wb7 are supplied to the address selection circuit 1. And the address of the character delivered from the circuit 1 is set at the counter 2 by the strobe signal ST. The counter 2 delivers directly at first the address of the supplied character as the address of the ROM of the character generator 3. Accordingly, the dot signals stored in the designated address in the ROn are delivered from the generator 3, and at the same time the end signal ES is produced according to the width of each character. The bit for the signal ES which is set previously according to the width of each character is provided in the ROM of the generator 3 and with every address. As a result, the width of character can be varied in the dot matrix system to eliminate the undesired blank space, thus ensuring more natural and easy-to-print.
