Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the speed of combustion in low speed low load and low speed high load operation, securing a high filling efficiency in high speed high load operation by connecting each communication branched passage which communicates to each semi-helical intake port with a common communication passage.
CONSTITUTION: Four communication branched passages 30aW30d which communicate to each intake port 5aW5d from a common communication passage 29 are formed in a cylinder head 9, and each communication branched passage 30aW30d is opened in the tangential direction towards the peripheral direction of the section of the intake ports 5aW5d, on the inner wall surface of the intake ports 5aW5d in the vicinity of the back surface of the corresponding intake valves 3aW3d, and further each communication branched passage 30aW30d is directed to the slit formed between the intake valves 3aW3d and the valve seats in opening each intake valve 3aW3d.
