Claims (5)
- 複数の気筒を備えたエンジンの排気装置であって、
各気筒に通じかつ気筒列方向と直交するエンジン幅方向の一側面に開口する集合排気口を有する排気多枝通路を内部に備えたシリンダヘッドを有するエンジン本体と、
前記エンジン本体の前記一側面側に配置され、前記集合排気口から排出される排気ガスによりタービンを回転させて吸入空気を圧縮するターボ過給機と、
前記気筒列方向において前記ターボ過給機に隣設され、当該ターボ過給機を経由した排気ガス中の特定成分に反応して当該特定成分を無害化する触媒装置と、
前記触媒装置を経由した排気ガス中の特定成分を捕集する排気処理装置と、
前記排気処理装置を経由した排気ガスの一部を吸気通路に還流させるためのEGR装置と、を含み、
前記ターボ過給機は、当該集合排気口から排出される排気ガスを上向きに案内し、上向きの旋回流を形成しながらタービンを旋回させるように構成され、
前記触媒装置は、触媒物質が担持される担体と、この担体を収容するとともに前記排気ガスが当該担体のうち主に下部領域を前記気筒列方向に通過するように当該担体の前記下部領域の両側に排気ガスの導入口及び導出口を備える容器とを備えており、
前記EGR装置および前記排気処理装置は、前記ターボ過給機および前記触媒装置の下側に、互いに前記気筒列方向に並んだ状態で配置されている、ことを特徴とするエンジンの排気装置。 - 請求項1に記載のエンジンの排気装置において、
ターボ過給機を経由した排気ガスが前記触媒装置を前記気筒列方向に通過した後、反転して前記排気処理装置に導入され、当該排気処理装置を前記気筒列方向に通過するように前記触媒装置と前記排気処理装置とが互いに接続されている、ことを特徴とするエンジンの排気装置。 - 請求項1又は2に記載のエンジンの排気装置において、
前記ターボ過給機は、可動ベーンを有し、この可動ベーンの作動により前記タービンに流入する排気ガスの流速を調整することが可能な可変容量型のターボ過給機である、ことを特徴とするエンジンの排気装置。 - 請求項1乃至3の何れか一項に記載のエンジンの排気装置において、
前記排気処理装置は、排気ガス中の微粒子を捕集するものであり、
前記EGR装置は、前記吸気通路に還流される排気ガスを冷却するEGRクーラと前記吸気通路に還流される排気ガス量を調整するEGR弁を含む、ことを特徴とするエンジンの排気装置。 - 請求項4に記載のエンジンの排気装置において、
前記排気処理装置に接続され、当該排気処理装置を通過した排気ガスを前記エンジン幅方向外向きに案内する排気管を含み、この排気管のうち、反排気処理装置側の側面に前記EGR装置が組付けられている、ことを特徴とするエンジンの排気装置。
