Description
本特許出願は、2009年6月16日に米国特許商標局(USPTO)に出願された米国仮出願第61/187469号、2009年9月23日にUSPTOに出願された米国仮出願第61/245085号、2009年12月8日にUSPTOに出願された米国仮出願第61/267594号、の恩典を主張するものであり、これらの出願の各々の全内容は参照により本出願に組み込まれている。
本発明は、水、廃水、および他の生物分解物質を処理し監視して、それらの物質から付加価値製品を生成するシステムおよび装置に関する。
システム200は、反応器202内に、電圧を送達してH2形成の有利性を高めるアノード204およびカソード206などの電極または電極の組を含むことによってHM反応における水素制限に対処する。一実施形態において、アノード204およびカソード206は、H2の酸化の必要性を低減しまたは省くために水素利用性メタン生成菌に直接電子を与える。システム200中の水素の生成はメタン生成有機生物フィルムが存在するアノード204およびカソード206の表面で起きるので、当該生成は、反応器202内で起きる単純な水素ガスの混合の場合よりもメタン生成微生物208が容易に入手可能な一定の規模および場所に起きる。さらに、システム200内の水素生成および急速な共同消費は本質的にバルクの水素ガスの使用よりもはるかに安全である。
Claims (18)
- 少なくとも1つのアノード電極と、少なくとも1つのカソード電極と、少なくとも1種のメタン生成微生物とを含む嫌気性反応器と、
前記アノード電極および前記カソード電極に電圧を印加するように構成された電源と、
生物−電気化学システムの運転の速度を最適化するための、自動フィードバック機構を含む制御工具と、
を含み、
前記制御工具は、前記電圧、抵抗、電極間隔、燃料装填割合、燃料のpH、生物的酸素要求量、化学的酸素要求量、アンモニア、および他の化学種の1つ以上のレベルを監視し、前記電圧、前記抵抗、前記電極間隔、前記燃料装填割合、前記燃料のpHを調節することを特徴とする、電子供与材料からメタンを生成するための生物−電気化学システム。 - 前記電子供与材料が前記アノード電極から前記カソード電極へ流れるように前記システムが構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記電子供与材料が、有機材料、アンモニア、または廃水の少なくとも1つを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記少なくとも1つのアノード電極および前記少なくとも1つのカソード電極が、選択的透過性障壁によって分離されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記選択的透過性障壁が選択的透過性イオン交換メンブレンであることを特徴とする請求項4に記載のシステム。
- 前記印加された電圧が、
水素イオンの水素ガスへの還元、
前記カソード電極上の電子を受容する二次発酵有機物によるH2形成、および
前記カソード電極から直接電子を受容してメタン生成微生物がメタンを生成すること、
の反応の1つ以上を促進するために前記カソード電極で負の電位を生成するのに十分であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。 - 前記カソード電極が生物カソードであることを特徴とする請求項6に記載のシステム。
- 前記生物カソードに付随して少なくとも1つの電子放出微生物をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載のシステム。
- 前記カソード電極に付随して少なくとも1つの電子放出微生物をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記少なくとも1つのメタン生成微生物が水素利用微生物であることを特徴とする請求項6に記載のシステム。
- 前記アノード電極および前記カソード電極が分離した室に配設されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記アノード電極および前記カソード電極が同じ室に配設されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記アノード電極、前記カソード電極、または両方が、実質的に管状の形態を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記アノード電極および前記カソード電極が同心状であることを特徴とする請求項13に記載のシステム。
- 前記アノード電極、前記カソード電極、または両方が、実質的に平面の形態を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記アノード電極、前記カソード電極、または両方が、複数の重ねられた電極層を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記アノード電極、前記カソード電極、または両方が、カスケード電極であることを特徴とする請求項16に記載のシステム。
- 前記電源が、発電機、または前記反応器中で生成されたメタンにより駆動される燃料セルによって生成された電気を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
