Description
排ガス下流側で目詰めされた流入側セルと、流入側セルに隣接し排ガス上流側で目詰めされた流出側セルと、流入側セルと流出側セルを区画し多数の細孔を有する多孔質のセル隔壁と、をもつウオールフロー構造のハニカム構造体と、セル隔壁の表面及び細孔内表面に形成され酸化物担体に触媒金属及びNO x 吸蔵材を担持してなる触媒層と、よりなり第1触媒の排ガス上流側に配置された第2触媒と、
ストレートフロー構造の担体基材と、担体基材のセル隔壁表面に形成され触媒金属とNOx 吸蔵材とを担持した触媒層と、よりなり第2触媒の排ガス上流側に配置されたNOx 吸蔵還元型の第3触媒と、からなることにある。
図2に本実施例の排ガス浄化装置を示す。この排ガス浄化装置は、第1触媒Aと、第2触媒Bと、第3触媒Cとが、排ガス下流側から上流側に向かってこの順に隣接して触媒コンバータ 100内に配置されてなる。触媒コンバータ 100は、ディーゼルエンジン 101の排気マニホールド 102に連結されている。また排気マニホールド 102には噴射ノズル 103が配置され、排ガス中に軽油が間欠的に噴射されるように構成されている。なお排気マニホールド 102からの排ガスの一部は、ターボチャージャ 104及びインタークーラー 105を介してディーゼルエンジン 101のインテークマニホールド 106に戻される。
コージェライト製のストレートフロー構造のハニカム基材を用意した。このハニカム基材は、セル数が 400/inch2 (62セル/cm2 )で厚さ 0.1mmのセル隔壁を有し、体積は1リットルである。
コージェライト製のウオールフロー構造のハニカム構造体を用意した。このハニカム構造体は2リットルの体積を有し、セル数が 300/inch2 (46.5セル/cm2 )で厚さ 0.3mmのセル隔壁を有している。また両端面が1セルずつ交互に目封じされている。
第1触媒Aと同一の触媒を第3触媒Cとした。
第1触媒A、第2触媒B及び第3触媒Cを、排ガス下流側から上流側に向かってこの順に隣接して触媒コンバータ 100内に配置し、本実施例の排ガス浄化装置とした。そして先ず 650℃の排ガスを50時間流通させる耐久試験を行った。その後ディーゼルエンジン 101を回転数 2900rpmで駆動し、第3触媒Cに流入する排ガス温度を 300℃に設定し、噴射ノズル 103から軽油を10秒毎に 0.1秒間、間欠的に排ガス中に噴射した。軽油の噴射量は、 A/Fが14.2相当で燃焼されたリッチ雰囲気の排ガスとなるようにした。
本実施例の排ガス浄化装置を図3に示す。この排ガス浄化装置は、第3触媒Cの排ガス上流側に酸化触媒Dをさらに配置したこと以外は実施例1と同様である。
第3触媒CにおけるPtの担持量を2g/Lに減量し、Li及びBaの担持量をそれぞれ 0.3モル/L、0.15モル/Lに増量して第3触媒C1 としたこと、及び第1触媒AにおけるPtの担持量を4g/Lに増量し、Ba及びKの担持量をそれぞれ0.05モル/Lに減量して第1触媒A1 としたこと以外は実施例2と同様の構成である。
第2触媒Bのハニカム構造体の長さを3/4倍(体積 1.5L)とし、かつコート層を75g/L形成して第2触媒B1 としたこと、第1触媒Aの担体基材の長さを3/2倍(体積 1.5L)とし、Pt担持量を 3.3g/Lと増量して第1触媒A2 としたこと以外は実施例3と同様の構成である。なお合計のPt担持量は、実施例3と同一である。
第1触媒A1 と第3触媒C1 を交換し、下流側から第3触媒C1 ,第2触媒B、第1触媒A1 ,酸化触媒Dの順に配置したこと以外は実施例3と同様の構成である。
第1触媒Aを用いなかったこと以外は実施例1と同様の構成である。
実施例2と同様の第3触媒Cを最上流に配置し、その下流側に実施例1と同様の第1触媒Aを配置し、その下流側に実施例1と同様の第2触媒Bを配置した。
実施例1と同様の第2触媒Bを最上流に配置し、その下流側に実施例1と同様の第3触媒Cを配置し、その下流側に実施例1と同様の第1触媒Aを配置した。
第3触媒Cに代えて、実施例2と同様の酸化触媒Dを最上流に2個直列に配置したこと以外は実施例1と同様の構成である。

Claims (5)
- 排ガス中に液状還元剤が間欠的に供給されるシステムに用いられる排ガス浄化装置であって、
ストレートフロー構造の担体基材と、該担体基材のセル隔壁表面に形成され触媒金属とNOx 吸蔵材とを担持した触媒層と、よりなり排ガス下流側に配置されたNOx 吸蔵還元型の第1触媒と、
排ガス下流側で目詰めされた流入側セルと、該流入側セルに隣接し排ガス上流側で目詰めされた流出側セルと、該流入側セルと該流出側セルを区画し多数の細孔を有する多孔質のセル隔壁と、をもつウオールフロー構造のハニカム構造体と、該セル隔壁の表面及び該細孔内表面に形成され酸化物担体に触媒金属及びNO x 吸蔵材を担持してなる触媒層と、よりなり該第1触媒の排ガス上流側に配置された第2触媒と、
ストレートフロー構造の担体基材と、該担体基材のセル隔壁表面に形成され触媒金属とNOx 吸蔵材とを担持した触媒層と、よりなり該第2触媒の排ガス上流側に配置されたNOx 吸蔵還元型の第3触媒と、からなることを特徴とする排ガス浄化装置。 - 前記第3触媒の排ガス上流側には、ストレートフロー構造の担体基材と、該担体基材のセル隔壁表面に形成され触媒金属を担持した触媒層と、よりなる酸化触媒がさらに配置されている請求項1に記載の排ガス浄化装置。
- 前記第1触媒の前記触媒金属の担持密度は前記第3触媒の前記触媒金属の担持密度より高い請求項1又は請求項2に記載の排ガス浄化装置。
- 前記第3触媒の前記NOx 吸蔵材の担持密度は前記第1触媒の前記NOx 吸蔵材の担持密度より高い請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の排ガス浄化装置。
- 前記第1触媒の前記触媒層のコート量及び前記第3触媒の前記触媒層のコート量は、前記第2触媒の前記触媒層のコート量より多い請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の排ガス浄化装置。
