Abstract
Description
本発明が解決しようとする他の課題は、赤色画素、緑色画素および青色画素などの着色画素と白色画素を含む表示装置が、表現しようとする解像度、周辺の明るさ、映像の種類などの多様な条件に合わせて多様な解像度および多様な輝度の映像を表示することができるようにすることである。
第1ビッグ画素が第1色を表示する段階で第1ビッグ画素が含む前記二つの第1着色画素のうちの少なくとも一つが点灯され、第2ビッグ画素が第2色を表示する段階で第2ビッグ画素が含む二つの第2着色画素のうちの少なくとも一つが点灯され、第3ビッグ画素が第3色を表示する段階で第3ビッグ画素が含む二つの第3着色画素のうちの少なくとも一つが点灯される。
複数のドットそれぞれは、一つの第1着色画素、一つの第2着色画素、そして一つの第3着色画素を含んでもよい。
第4ビッグ画素は白色を示す一つの白色画素を含み、複数の映像が複数のドットを通じてそれぞれ表示されるときに白色画素が点灯される。
複数の着色画素PX_1、PX_2、PX_3は、赤色、緑色および青色の三原色または四原色などの基本色(primary color)のうちの一つを表示することができる。基本色は赤色、緑色、および青色の三原色に限定されず、青緑色(cyan)、紫紅色(magenta)、黄色(yellow)などであってもよい。本発明の一実施形態による複数の着色画素は、第1着色画素PX_1、第2着色画素PX_2、第3着色画素PX_3などを含んでもよい。本実施形態では第1着色画素PX_1が赤色を表示する赤色画素であり、第2着色画素PX_2が緑色を表示する緑色画素であり、第3着色画素PX_3が青色を表示する青色画素である場合を例とする。

Claims (10)
- 複数の着色画素および白色画素を含み、
前記複数の着色画素および前記白色画素は、少なくとも一つのスイッチング素子を含み、
前記複数の着色画素と前記白色画素は、これら全体で一つの中心を有するように互いに隣接して配置されており、
前記少なくとも一つのスイッチング素子は、前記一つの中心近くに集まって位置する
ことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記少なくとも一つのスイッチング素子と接続されている少なくとも一つのゲート線および少なくとも一つのデータ線をさらに含み、
前記複数の着色画素と前記白色画素は、四角形行列形態に配置されており、
前記少なくとも一つのゲート線は全て、前記四角形行列の第1行および第2行の間を伸び、
前記少なくとも一つのデータ線は全て、前記四角形行列の第1列および第2列の間を伸びる
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記少なくとも一つのスイッチング素子は、前記複数の着色画素および前記白色画素それぞれに含まれている複数のスイッチング素子を含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記複数の着色画素および前記白色画素は、一つのスイッチング素子を通じて前記ゲート線および前記データ線に接続されていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 複数のビッグドットを含み、
前記ビッグドットは、四角形行列形態に配置されている第1ビッグ画素、第2ビッグ画素、第3ビッグ画素、そして第4ビッグ画素を含み、
前記第1ビッグ画素は、第1色を示す二つの第1着色画素、第2色を示す一つの第2着色画素、そして第3色を示す一つの第3着色画素を含み、
前記第2ビッグ画素は、二つの前記第2着色画素、一つの前記第1着色画素、及び一つの前記第3着色画素を含み、
前記第3ビッグ画素は、二つの前記第3着色画素、一つの前記第1着色画素、及び一つの前記第2着色画素を含むことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記第4ビッグ画素は、一つの前記第1着色画素、一つの前記第2着色画素、一つの前記第3着色画素、及び白色を示す一つの白色画素を含むことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1ビッグ画素が含む一つの前記第1着色画素、前記第2ビッグ画素が含む一つの前記第2着色画素、前記第3ビッグ画素が含む一つの前記第3着色画素、そして前記第4ビッグ画素が含む前記白色画素は、互いに隣接しており、四角形行列形態に配置されて融合ビッグ画素を成すことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1ビッグ画素において、
前記二つの第1着色画素は、第1対角線方向に配置されており、
前記第2着色画素および前記第3着色画素は、前記第1対角線方向と反対方向の第2対角線方向に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第2ビッグ画素において、
前記二つの第2着色画素は、第1対角線方向に配置されており、
前記第1着色画素および前記第3着色画素は、前記第1対角線方向と反対方向の第2対角線方向に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第3ビッグ画素において、
前記二つの第3着色画素は、第1対角線方向に配置されており、
前記第1着色画素および前記第2着色画素は、前記第1対角線方向と反対方向の第2対角線方向に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の表示装置。
