- 式(1)で表される第1ポリマーと、
R1およびR3が、それぞれテトラカルボン酸二無水物から誘導された四価有機基であり、且つ少なくとも一部のR1および少なくとも一部のR3が、芳香族テトラカルボン酸二無水物から誘導され、
R2およびR4が、それぞれジアミンから誘導された二価有機基であり、且つXモル%のR2およびYモル%のR4が、ベンゾイミダゾール基を有するジアミンから誘導され、
Xが、5〜50の間であり、Yが、0〜20の間であり、且つX>Yである液晶配向剤。 - 芳香族テトラカルボン酸二無水物から誘導された四価有機基が、R1とR3の総量の5モル%〜100モル%を占める請求項1に記載の液晶配向剤。

- 5モル%〜50モル%のR2および0モル%〜20モル%のR4が、式(3)で表されるジアミンから誘導され、
- 5モル%〜50モル%のR2が、式(3)で表されるジアミンから誘導され、且つR4が、式(3)で表されるジアミンから誘導された二価有機基を含まない請求項5に記載の液晶配向剤。
- Rが、水素である請求項5に記載の液晶配向剤。
- 前記第1ポリマーが、前記第1ポリマーと前記第2ポリマーの総量の5重量%〜95重量%を占める請求項1に記載の液晶配向剤。
- 請求項8に記載の液晶配向剤により製造された液晶配向膜。
- 請求項9に記載の液晶配向膜を含む液晶表示素子。
