Abstract

972,678. Fastening railway rails. P.C.C. Jan. 8, 1962 [Jan. 10, 1961; Jan. 20, 1961; July 8, 1961], No. 704/62. Heading E1G. A resilient rail fastener 1 has one end A bearing on a rail flange 5 and the other end clamped to a sleeper 2 by e.g. a coach screw 3, a strip 10 of rubber or plastics material interposed between the fastener and the sleeper extending at H over the flange 5. The end A may carry studs of rubber or plastics material, Fig. 5. In modifications (not shown) the lower face of the strip 10 or the upper face of the sleeper is cut away adjacent the flange 5. In a further modification, Fig. 5, a bearing plate 8 is interposed between the clamping nut 4 and the fastener 1.
