Abstract

767,591. Snap action switches. WELWYN ELECTRICAL LABORATORIES, Ltd., and WHITFIELD, E. H. Jan. 24, 1955 [Oct. 27, 1953], No. 29689/53. Class 38(5) A snap-action switch which is combined with some other component (e.g. a variable resistance) so that two functions may be controlled in one device, comprises a spring-loaded toggle, formed by parts 17, 18, 20 and 22, which actuates contacts carried on a part separate from the toggle mechanism. A lug on an operating spindle 10 engages between lugs 16 attached to the arm 20 causing it to pivot about 21 whereupon the link 18 is displaced and causes the frame 17 which also pivots 21 to snap over into its other position. A lug 24 attached to the frame 17 engages a disc of insulating material 32 which is rotatable about the bearing 31. Contacts 34 carried by the disc are brought into and out of engagement with fixed contacts 38.
