Abstract
746,642. Switches, held set and freed mechanically. CLAROSTAT MFG. CO., Inc. April 8, 1954 [April 10, 1953], No. 10341/54. Class 38(5) A rotary switch has a spindle 20 which carries, through a lost motion connection 22, a cam finger 23 cooperating with a cam surface 34 formed on a pivoted intermediate member 31 which bears against the cam-shaped inner surface 27 of a C-shaped contact spring 25 which surrounds the spindle and co-operates with a fixed contact 30. As shown, the contacts are normally closed and are rapidly separated with a wiping action by movement of finger 23 into a recess 35 on member 31, but in a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), the contacts are normally open and are closed on such movement of finger 23. The switch may be combined with a potentiometer or other control device.
