Abstract
738,392. Blending fibres. TURNER, ATHERTON & CO., Ltd. Jan 14, 1954 [Oct. 17, 1952], No. 26044/52. Class 120(3). In a method of blending textile fibres in a carding-engine, light short fibres e.g. rabbit fur, are introduced by the doffer and incorporated or dispersed thereby into a web or fleece of fibres e.g. hair, staple rayon, cotton, wool, on the main carding cylinder during transfer therefrom to the doffer. As represented in the drawing, fur fibres are opened and separated within an enclosed chamber (not shown) of an automatic feeding machine 14 which delivers a continuous stream of these fibres and spreads them as a layer 16 on an endless belt conveyer 15 from which the fibres are delivered to the doffer 11 at a point before its toothed surface 17 closes towards the surface 18 of the swift 10 ; the fibres 16 become enmeshed in a wool fleece 19 as it is crowded onto the doffer 11.
