Abstract

699,612. Seats. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. Aug. 15, 1952 [March 31, 1952], No. 20588/52. Class 52(ii) A vehicle seat is constructed and arranged so that it may slide forwardly and backwardly, the seat and the back rest may each be adjusted both vertically and angularly and so that an adjustment of the seat or the back correspondently effects the adjustment of the back or the seat respectively. As shown, the main frame comprises U-shaped seat and back rest parts 15, 16 rigidly connected together and supported by tubular members 7 for slidable relation to guides 3, locking arrangements such as a plunger 8 selectively engaging notches in the guides 3 being provided. The seat 18 and back rest 19 are mounted on frames 20, 21 respectively, the frames being pivoted together at their adjacent ends. The seat frame 20 is supported from the main frame by cams 25, 26, rotation of which by spring-pressed levers 28, 29 adjusting the heights of the respective front or rear ends, locking plates 33 being provided. The back rest frame 21 is adjustably suspended by pivots 35 from the main frame and at the lower end is angularly adjustable by arms 41 rotatable on the main frame and having rollers 42 engaging in slots 43.
