Abstract

1,168,319. Castors. HOMA ENG. Ltd. 16 Sept., 1968 [15 June, 1967], No. 27654/67, Heading A4U. A pedal plate 8, rocked transversely of a castor wheel 2 on a threaded pivot pin 9, has a cam surface 14, which brakes the wheel, and a cam surface 16, which simultaneously prevents swivelling, when the projection 8a at the r.h.s. of Fig. 4 is depressed, and has a second cam surface 16 which prevents swivelling of the castor wheel when the other projection 8a is depressed. The cam surface 14 engages the wheel rim directly or through a leaf spring 15. The cam surfaces 16 act on a stud 17 to allow a spring-pressed plunger 18, normally held in a retracted position, to rise under the influence of a spring 19 to engage in either one of diametrically opposed apertures 20 in a fixed housing 5. Stops 22 and 23 limit rocking movement of the pedal plate and, retain the pedal plate in the "of" position respectively. Specification 1144157 is referred to.
