Abstract

1,002,865. Valves. HOERBIGER VENTILWERKE A.G. Oct. 14, 1963 [Oct. 24, 1962], No. 40378/63. Heading F2V. A compressor valve has a seat 1 connected to a valve guard 2 by a bolt 3, the seat and guard being spaced by a washer 5 so as to house a movable closure member 6 of annular form and U-cross-section; the member 6 is loaded by a helical spring 7 which may be arranged to exert a radial thrust. The spring is located between the member 6 and an annular groove 8 in the guard 2. The member 6 is guided by the spring or a star-like arrangement of ribs 9 on the washer 5, which ribs are normally out of contact with the member 6 and only become effective should the spring break. The fluid flowing through the valve traverses the gaps between the ribs 9. Damping means comprising a P.T.F.E. and a steel ring 14, 15 are disposed between the spring and groove 8; the ring 14 may be replaced by a cup spring. The spring 7, which may be made of steel strip wound edgewise or of round-section material, may also serve to prevent the member 6 abutting the guard 2.
