Abstract

1,021,500. Valves. WESTINGHOUSE AIR BRAKE CO. Oct. 6, 1964 [Oct. 28, 1963], No. 40624/64. Heading F2V. A spool valve, comprising a spool 3 slidable against a spring 19 within cylindrical liners 11 to bore 2 disposed in alternate contiguous relationship with sealer elements 12, comprising resilient sealing rings 14, 15 attached to a metal ring 16, and having end spacer elements 17 may be modified by replacing an end spacer element 17 and adjacent liner 11 and sealer element 12 by an element 23 and a cylinder 21 to accommodate piston 22 which is tightly sleeved upon the end of spool 3 and includes an inwardly extending annular shoulder 28. The spool is displaced, to interconnect fluid passages 9 through liner apertures 13, by fluid pressure from fitting 32, acting, via aperture 30 in cylinder 21, upon the spool end enlarged by piston 22.
