Abstract
1,085,398. Valves. J. B. RATELBAND. Nov. 23, 1964 [Dec. 6, 1963], No. 47607/64. Heading F2V. A check valve has an annular seat 3 of rubber or like elastic material secured by vulcanization to a ring 2, the seat lip 7 coacting with a movable closure member 4 at a point where the diameter of the latter is increasing or at a maximum. The member 4 has guide ribs 5, 6 which may be helical to cause the member 4 to rotate so scraping the valve casing and ring 2; the member 4 is loaded by a spring 8. The ring 2 and casing incorporates abutments e.g. 10, that co-operate with the ribs to define the movement of the closure member 4. The abutments 10 may be replaced by a transverse rod to which a tension spring may be connected, the spring 8 being dispensed with. The ribs may be replaced by a central rod guided in the casing. Pressure fluid not only axially displaces the closure member 4 from the seat 7 but also urges the latter away from the former to provide a large flow area.
