Abstract

The multi-stage positive displacement rotary compressor has four vanes (1) rotating in the same direction on four parallel axes. The profile of each vane can comprise four arcs of a circle joined together to form an oval. Two of these are quarter-circles of large and the other two quarter-circles of small diameter, and the medium handled can flow through passage(s) (3) in the vanes. There can be one or more self-losing valves, or a rotary distributor formed by a plate mounted on one of the vane shaft, so as periodically to shut off the outlet port on the centre line of the compression chamber (2).
