Abstract
The generator assembly is supported on the ship's hull by means of a bracket(19) which holds it submerged and facing the direction of motion. The generator is enclosed in a venturi which allows water to flow around the outside and through the water turbine blades(8) after passing through the fixed guide vanes(17). The generator drive is through the speed increasing gear(18) which maintains speedo ratio of 4 or 6:1. The generator(3) is totally enclosed in a casing(1) which has a good aerodynamic shape to reduce drag. An alternative arrangement allows for the generator casing to rotate also to increase the power.
