- the weft 38 is cut because the scissor blade 52 connected to the reed 8 is moved against the stationary scissor blade 51. This provides a new weft thread for entry. After cutting, the weft 38 is moved synchronously with the reed 8 by the thread clamp 16 (FIG. 11).
- the reed 8 is then pivoted into the retracted position. With this pivoting movement, the clamping jaws 46 are pivoted with the reed. The clamping finger 45 follows the clamping jaw 46 due to the force of the spring 49 until it abuts the stop part 50. The clamping jaws 46 are moved further with the reed 8 and thus the thread clamp is opened for the subsequent weft insertion (FIG. 5).
- the weft 38 is thus inserted into the guide channel 36 by the stationary weft insertion device 14 and held, cut and beaten during the pivoting of the reed 8.
- This has a number of advantages. Due to the stationary insertion device, the supply of the weft from a weft feeder is safer and the period for adjusting the blowing nozzle in the insertion position is substantially extended, so that up to sixteen weft threads of different colors and types can be inserted.
- the holding and the synchronous movement of the inserted weft thread with the reed up to the stop ensures that the weft thread is struck correctly, the protruding weft end sections being short and little waste occurring.
