Abstract

a invenção fornece um processo para a produção de um primeiro diol de al-ta pureza selecionado a partir do grupo que consiste em c2 a c7 dióis de uma cor-rente de produto que compreende dois ou mais c2 a c7 dióis, sendo que o dito pro-cesso compreende as etapas de:(i) submeter a corrente de produto à destilação em uma primeira coluna de destilação para fornecer uma corrente inferior que compre-ende subprodutos de alto ponto de ebulição e uma corrente superior que compre-ende uma mistura que compreende os dois ou mais c2 a c7 dióis; (ii) fornecer a dita mistura que compreende os dois ou mais c2 a c7 dióis como um fluxo de ali-mentação a uma segunda coluna de destilação; (iii) fornecer um fluxo de alimenta-ção que compreende um extratante à segunda coluna de destilação acima da mistu-ra que compreende os dois ou mais c2 a c7 dióis; (iv) operar a segunda coluna de destilação a uma temperatura na faixa de 50 a 250 °c e uma pressão na faixa de 0,1 a 400 kpa; (v) remover uma corrente que compreende o primeiro diol e o extratante como uma corrente inferior da segunda coluna de destilação; e (vi) submeter a cor-rente que compreende o primeiro diol e o extratante à destilação em uma terceira coluna de destilação para fornecer uma corrente superior que compreende o primei-ro diol em alta pureza, em que o extratante é selecionado a partir do grupo de c3 a c6 álcoois de açúcar e misturas dos mesmos.
