Abstract

Un método para producir ácido acético incluye: (a) hacer reaccionar catalíticamente metanol o un derivado reactivo del mismo con monoxido de carbono en presencia de un catalizador de metal homogéneo del Grupo VIII y un promotor de yoduro de metilo en un recipiente reactor en una mezcla de reaccion líquida que incluye ácido acético, agua, acetato de metilo, yoduro de metilo y un catalizador homogéneo, donde el recipiente reactor se opera a una presion de reactor; (b) retirar la mezcla de reaccion del recipiente reactor y alimentar la mezcla de reaccion retirada junto con monoxido de carbono adicional a un recipiente preevaporador instantáneo/posreactor operado a una presion inferior a la presion del recipiente; (c) descargar extremos de luz en el recipiente preevaporador instantáneo y consumir concurrentemente el acetato de metilo en el recipiente del preevaporador instantáneo/posreactor. Las condiciones de reaccion, el tiempo de residencia y la composicion se controlan en el recipiente de preevaporador instantáneo/posreactor de manera que la mezcla de preevaporacion instantánea se enriquezca en ácido acético y se reduzcan el yoduro de metilo y el acetato de metilo en el recipiente de preevaporador instantáneo/posreactor. Se (d) retira la mezcla enriquecida de ácido acético del preevaporador instantáneo/recipiente de posreaccion y se carga en el recipiente de evaporacion instantánea.
