These five 15×5″ five-lug wheels were manufactured by Kronprinz in 1955 for use on a Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. They feature two-piece steel and alloy construction, a silver finish, and four matching hubcaps. Manufacturer markings, dimensions, and date codes are stamped on each wheel. Acquired by the seller in 2010 and refurbished a few years ago, this set of wheels is now offered in Scotts Valley, California.
Each wheel has a two-piece design comprising a steel five-lug center fastened to an alloy barrel measuring 15″ in diameter by 5″ wide. All five wheels are finished in silver and equipped with hubcap retainers. The inner barrel of one wheel is scratched.
All five wheels are stamped with the KPZ logo, 5K x 15 dimension markings, and part number S562C. Gullwings were fitted with 5″-wide wheels, while 5.5″-wide wheels were made for Roadsters.
Date codes indicate production in 6/55 for two wheels, while the remaining three were produced in 7/55.
Four hubcaps are included.
