I’m from India and Zara is half Portuguese and half Spanish.
Yeah it is definitely quite tough with an Indian passport but I think I’m up for all the challenges. My passport isn’t going to stop me from seeing everything the world has to offer! :)

Wow Argentina – we were very close to going there when we were in Iguazu. But decided to fly north and head down south again through Chile, etc. Whereabouts in Argentina are you living ? Do please share your experiences with an Indian passport. I love to see everyone’s eyeballs pop every time they see one. “Wow is this from this universe ?!” – Haha!
I live in Buenos Aires, where they think India is the land of snake-charmers and elephants. Give me a shout if you make it back here :) I don’t blog though.
Buenos Aires is definitely on our list of places to visit! In fact, we definitely want to travel through Patagonia. Just not sure of how to wing it now that winter is approaching. I tried applying for a Peru visa in Quito but they refused saying “you must apply in your country of residence” (I don’t have any country of residence but legally I’d say it’s India). So we’re going to try applying in Guayaquil.
How is it for an Indian living in Argentina ? Do you speak Spanish ?

Oh that sucks about the Peru visa. Didn’t most countries you applied to require that you be a permanent resident somewhere though? It’s interesting living here. Very different obviously from India. My husband (also Indian) works here and we both learn Spanish, didn’t speak a word before we arrived. Our biggest problem however is the FOOD!!

Well, the visa policies are usually quite old fashioned. Especially when it comes to Indians. I think most countries around the world aren’t used to the fact that Indians DO TRAVEL! Yes, every country requires you to be a permanent resident somewhere, that is for a visa application. For others who get visa on arrival, etc. there are no issues of being a resident anywhere.
We were able to get around applying in the country of residence in many places (I applied for the Brazil visa in Lisbon, for example) but the Peru embassy in Quito seems especially stubborn and unwelcoming. But TBH, it’s quite silly to require someone to fly all the way back to India to apply for a visa to Peru, only to come back here – don’t you think ? :) It’s just plain old bureaucracy…
Yeah I just went to an Indian restaurant in Quito the other day and the food really tasted strange! I believe it’s difficult because spices aren’t easily available here. You wouldn’t believe it but I’m such a tea addict that when my friends flew to Brazil to meet us, I made them bring me 1kg of assam tea leaves :P Missed that the first 3 months of our travels!
As for the subscription thing, GOOD POINT! I just added that functionality (and subscribed you to this post, but please remove your subscription if you don’t want emails about replies).

Came across your blog last night and I’ve been reading through it – it’s awesome! :) Really love the articles – especially the Mexico ones, I’m thinking of adding the Hierve el Agua to my itinerary now after reading about it here!
My question is though – where do I find the writing about you guys? Who you are, how old you are, your inspiration, your interests, how you’re funding the trip, what tech equipment you’re traveling with etc. :D Maybe I’ve just missed it so I’ll keep browsing.

Hey Wayne! Thanks for the kind comments. Our About Us has been pending for awhile. That’s because it’s going to have an awesome video and since our camera was stolen in Brazil – we haven’t been able to get it done yet. But it should be coming very soon! The gist of it though is that I’m 25, Zara’s 29, I’m Indian, she’s Portuguese and Spanish (50/50), I’m a web developer on the road so — a total tech freak (we have more gadgets than clothes :P), she’s a tv producer and aspiring to make some awesome videos. We’re both musicians and miss playing with our bands. More info coming soon in our (so far) elusive about us section =D
that feature was very promptly added :) goes to show that you are a web developer! I was too in earlier days.
Lack of tea is the least of it :) we miss being able to get any south indian food or even the supplies to cook it!
Is ecuador worth visiting? The visa bit makes it tempting….
Yeah tell me about it. I just had my first Indian meal after 2+ months and it was just okay. At least the Paratha tasted real :) Ecuador is definitely worth visiting – it’s a beautiful country and very affordable. We’re soon going to head to the Galapagos Islands. Our new camera arrives today, we’re heading to customs now to pay and pick it up, since it got held up and UPS can’t seen to clear it themselves.
We have also been wanting to climb this volcano in Quito for the week that we spent here (waiting for the camera) but it’s been raining every day and that’s not nice at 14000 ft.
The visa in ecuador seemed to be a bit weird. I have a tourist visa from the US and the immigration folks made it a point to check that before they let me in. I was surprised because the previous info I had said that anyone of any nationality gets visa on arrival in Ecuador. I’ll be writing an article soon about my experience here. I do think that they let you in if you have a return ticket though.
So what do you guys do in Argentina ? How long have you been living there ?
Oh awesome, Galapagos!! That would be amazing I’m sure. Were tickets hard to come by? Good to know about the visa.
My husband works in a financial KPO here and I quit my job in India to learn Spanish, plan travels, cook, etc etc :)

My upcoming travel plans are Dubrovnik, Croatia; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and Munich, Germany in March 2014, then a trip through Italy in May! Hopefully followed by a visit to the Caribbean island of Dominica in Fall or Winter 2014!

Some of the good places you guys can visit to [ From your travel maps I don't see them that's why. :-) ] = 1) Budapest, Hungary [take train from Prague. Cheap & scenic route. Not that scenic as around Austria but still] 2) Dubrovnik, Croatia. I badly missed to take over night cruise from Bari,Italy to Dubrovnik due to schedule & visa issues. Dubrovnik was 1 of the scenic city to me. 3) Mostar & Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina. Good modern Muslim country with old architecture’s everywhere. Turks ruled there for reasonably long time. 4) Thessaloniki, Greece. Romantic but calm sea faced city. Don’t miss awesome “Gyro”s there. Yummmmm!!! 5) Sofia, Bulgaria. Take Arda bus from Thessaloniki. 1 of the nicest city I been to. I liked it very much. Many good architectures, interesting history & reasonable city.
I feel myself lucky to travel some of those East,South East European & Balkan countries. Revealed interesting WW II history to me. Everything is so different compare to West Europe. :-)
Lastly, being an Indian backpacker+Passport holder yes I was the odd man out at above countries as nearly no Indian passport holders goes to above countries & cities. ^_^

First of all, let me say that you two are a great inspiration to me and my goal of long-term travel. I can’t say yet that I’ve traveled much, but my plan is that at the end of 2015 to start a journey of a life time traveling across the world, starting in Sofia, Bulgaria, and then across most of Europe, before moving on to Asia. I’m planning on doing this Solo, and I’m extremely excited and determined to fulfill what I believe to be my Personal Legend as Paolo Coelho puts it in his book The Alchemist, yet I can’t deny that I am scared as I am a diabetic and I am reliant on insulin shots to get me through the day. I’m trying to work past that by eating healthy and doing daily exercises to replace my need for insulin as to make it obsolete by the time I start traveling. I love the very thought of traveling for the rest of my active life, and spend my days as if everyday is Saturday with new possibilities and adventure to find with the rising of the sun. My goal to sustain myself during travels is with self-reliance, the good will of people (couchsurfing, WOOF-ing, Help-Exchange), and simply living off the land, as I am hoping to spend most of my time in Nature, reconnecting with the land, and washing away the negativity that you find in cities. I really love seeing all the adventures you go on, and if you have any tips or tricks to assist me once I begin, it would truly be appreciated.

Hey guys!!!! Yeah it’s tough travle with Indian passport.but now other countries are now allows Indian citizen visa on arrival. And if I am not wrong 2011 and before that Indian citizen Travel less then 40 Countries visa on arrival and visa free countries. Now in 2016 58 countries allowing Indian citizen visa on arrival,visa free, and visa exemption.thts good news..

Yes you can extend it for another 25 days at the immigration department in any major city.
