Nora Manella
Nora Manella was a judge for Division 4 of the California 2nd District Court of Appeal. She assumed office on May 22, 2006. She left office on January 31, 2023.
Manella ran for re-election for the Division 4 judge of the California 2nd District Court of Appeal. She won in the retention election on November 6, 2018.
She was first appointed to the court by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.[1][2]
Education
Manella received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College in 1972 and her J.D. from the University of Southern California in 1975.[3][4]
Career
Manella was legal counsel to the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution in Washington, D.C. before joining O'Melveny & Myers as a civil litigator. In 1982, she became a federal prosecutor. Governor Deukmejian appointed her to the Los Angeles Municipal Court in 1990 and Governor Wilson appointed her to the Los Angeles Superior Court in 1992. In 1994, President Bilil Clinton nominated Manella to be the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California.[3][4]
In 1998, President Clinton nominated Manella to fill the seat vacated by Mariana Pfaelzer on the United States District Court for the Central District of California and she was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate. She resigned from the U.S. District Court on May 21, 2006 and was appointed to the California Court of Appeal by Governor Schwarzenegger. [5]
