- DeSantos was appointed in October 2003 by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to succeed Judge John G. O'Rourke. DeSantos was automatically re-elected in 2012.[3][1]

DeSantos ran for re-election to the superior court in 2012. As an unopposed incumbent, his name did not appear on the ballot. After the primary election, DeSantos was automatically re-elected.[4]
