New Videos - YouTube Channel

Hi, have you visited our YouTube channel lately?

No! you say, we've added many new videos recently.

I will soon be adding more videos related to other techniques other than Embroidery and Silk Ribbon Embroidery like Goldwork, Stumpwork and eventually Crewel work.

I am currently working on new updates for both the Embroidery App and the Silk Ribbon Embroidery App, with new stitches added, new useful tips added and links to the videos on YouTube will be added as well. The Silk Ribbon Embroidery App update is due at the end of September, and the Embroidery App not long afterwards. Hopefully, I can get them out sooner, I will certainly try.

Do you own an iPhone, iPad, or MacBook Air, the apps work wonderfully on them. I have created videos on how to navigate the apps, click the links below.

I'm sorry I can't provide them in an Android version, but the cost is prohibitive. Using Apple I am able to do it all on my own. (with a little of Son's help, of course - he was the original coder after all)

Stumpwork Class with Jane Nicolas

One of the items I had on my bucket list was to attend a class with Embroider Jane Nicolas. I was on the waiting list to do her class at BATB this year, but due to COVID, it was cancelled. Jane rescheduled it at her home town and I was able to attend, was I over the moon.

Her class didn't disappoint and I got to embroider with a friend too. Here is my finished worked and some close ups.

'Cheerful Flutterings' now available for download

From advance beginner to intermediate embroiderer, create ‘Cheerful Fluttering’s’ a Floral and Insect Stumpwork scene ready for framing.

Using two very different techniques, one three dimensional and the second stitched onto the background fabric using a lesser-known honeycomb style stitch creates two playful Dragonflies. Each Dragonfly also having different body types. The inquisitive needle lace butterfly flutters happily about with oversized Daisies standing boldly tempting him to land. While the Hydrangeas stand defiantly in an elegant vase of smoked glass with an intricate design stitch to it’s outside.

All elements are then placed on a background of linen and framed to allow us to stand back and watch our cheerful insects fluttering about enjoying the fragrance and spender of two beautiful flowers.

General information about Stumpwork and stitches will be included in lesson material

App update and stitching catchup

Re the App.... Watch this space over the next two or three days, something exciting is about to happen....

In the mean time I have been catching up on some stitching...

DYOB Stumpwork: Susan's blocks
Can't remember what her theme was, but I gave the block a very "Australian' theme with the idea of the Kookaburra sit's in the ole gum tree.......

One of my fibre friends gave me this Kookaburra button, and he was just perfect for the block.
Some more close-ups:

We have the Townsville Stitches and Craft Show up here last weekend, and whilst I was there manning our exhibits I got to finishing my block 4 of the Twelve days of Christmas. This first picture show's with the removable ornament, (which all blocks will have).

This is the Ornament removed from the block. A 3D 'Cally' Bird landing on a branch.
Here is the block without the orny.
Most of the braids, beads and embellishments came from one of the shops at the show, Zenozam.  They had so much stuff, just so cool. Make sure you visit their shop.  These lovely blue flowers were on their stand, they sold out of them.
The flower beads above the bird was from their shop too.  Here is a close up of the 'Cally' Bird.

I have also finished a couple of our Fibres challenge pieces. Here is my iPad cover which was made from two 6 x 4 inch pieces of fabric.
This will eventually be one of the new projects in the first update of the app.
There were a few other items, but I forgot to take pictures of them.

Come back in a couple of days and there will be very exciting news and a giveaway, so click on the side to receive an email when I post.....

3 French Hens.....

Finally got to work on block three of the CQJP 2013 project.  On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, three french hens....
This is the block with the hen ornament.

And then removed to show three more french hens. The three silver charms I purchased on Norfolk Island in February, the three buttons I got from Sunlit Blooms sewing, my local shop, just perfect.
Felt made Hen, fit's nicely in place.

Now onto 4 Cally birds...... gosh more birds..... did you know the first four days are all birds....

Stumpwork DYOB (Do Your own block) - Beth's block

For some reason it seemed to take forever to finish this block, I guess it's because I have had so much on lately.  Hopefully it will slow down after the next four weeks.

Here is my work on Beth's block.
 Plus close ups

Now back to work on catching up on my CQJP blocks... no 3...   Arlene
