Classes on Joggles

Hi All,

Just a reminder that two of my classes are coming up on Joggles.

On November 7th: Two styles of Christmas Boot in the one class, plus a miniature version in a Christmas Ornament and a lovely Christmas Holly brooch.

Jump on across to Joggles and book in, there is still time.

While your there you might want to also book into my Beetle class. He's scheduled to run on December 3rd, just in time for Christmas. Would make a lovely gift on a trinket box or bowl.

Whilst your on Joggles site, you can browse though my other classes and put them on your wish list, or make a selection of wonderful stuff that Barbara sells on her site.

Don't forget there is only a couple of days left to enter in my giveaway for the Release of 'Arlene's Crafts Embroidery App'.

Christmas came early this year

We have had the pleasure of dog sitting a beautiful dog named Leica.  Her owners returned home from 8 months in India. We have had her since April, she is a lovely natured dog.  Anyway her owners brought home some gifts for Michael and I, Michael received an original Swiss army knife, with so many attachments, it's just amazing.  Now our friends know that I love my crafts, and so this is what I got: spoilt to say the least.
The first is a basket full of trims, sequins, and other lovelies.

Then she unrolled this stunning Door hanging, it is made from recycled clothing, a wedding dress and other cloths.

Here are some close ups:

Then the postie came and I got more goodies ..... I recently entered a competition promoting the Olympics and 'Gold' was the theme, i entered my beetle and he won. I received this in the mail, but, since I already own a copy I'm donating this one to my craft group "Fibers and Fabrics".

And also in the mail, was an order I placed a few weeks ago for some new stump work tools, they are made of Bubinga wood.
I haven't taken them out of the box yet, will do so over the weekend.
I purchased them from a small company in the UK, they are called Needlepaws and they make other types of tools too.

So wow, what a happy girl I am.... now what to do with it all, I have to try and convince Michael to add another couple of hooks in the walls so I can display my door hanging.

Christmas Stocking Swap 2011 - Yes I know a bit late

I again had nominated to be part of a Christmas stocking swap last year, I know this is a late post, but there is reason for this. Only just a couple of weeks ago I finally received my stocking.  Due to it been sent late (due to unforeseen circumstances with Lyn's family crisis, and who know's what circumstances the postman decided to send it back to the US, after arriving in Oz). But then, travelling around the world twice, it finally arrived down under 3 months late. But it was well worth the wait, believe you me, firstly the stocking was one of Lyn's creations, and superbly done I must add, it is stunning, and the fabric is soooooo sooooo soft. But I also received in the box many lovely little goodies that would be the envy of anyone opening up such a parcel.  So I will let the photo's say the rest, everything that is shown in these next photo's was in the box, oh my what a lovely surprise, thank you, thank you, thank you Lyn.

Three wonderful birds to grace my tree this year.

And many lovely fibres to stitch with.....

 Thank you Lyn, oh wow......

Pin cushions....... ouch......

Fibers and Fabrics as most of you know is a Textile group that I am a member of.  In December we have our annual Xmas Craft Fair, and I put up my hand to help make items for our members table to raise much needed funds for our new premises.  Pin cushions will be on the table, but not just any ole' pin cushion, but fancy and way out type ones, ones that will catch that ladies eye, and say, oh ah, that would look great on my sewing table.  So here are a few pictures of what I've been making.  Our Embroidery group will be making some more along with some brooches and Jacob ladder needle cases.
Here is an example of the Brooch and the needle case.

This is one of many manikin pin cushions that will be up for sale. This is mine to keep, as she was my first try and a bit lopsided.

My friend Kathy Shaw who has an Etsy shop where I've been buying some lovely stuff, had these rose beads, and they were just perfect for a pin cushion.
My stumpwork beetles will also make a show on the odd cushion or two, too.

My stumpwork beetle class with Joggles.com starts tomorrow, if you want to learn how to make these little buggers..... just click here.
And more stumpwork, Aussie gumunts may also be there for some lucky person. This is a lovely Victorian pin cushion, complete with bow.

So if your in Townsville, Queensland, Australia on the first weekend of December, pop in and say G'day and maybe pick up a gift or two.

Or if you see something you'd like, just send me an email and we can organize to get you one, plus postage.
(Pins no included).
All proceeds to aid Fibers and Fabrics.

My new toy

My darling hubby, who is getting to be quiet the handyman, has made me a box frame light box. Total cost $35.  I had the perspex and so he made my box to suit the size as this would be the lid. The wood and the light was all we bought.

Various Xmas Ordy's as swaps

These three shown on the right are the three I made for various Xmas Ordy swaps. The red one went to the USA for one, the middle one went to my Southern Cross Crazy partner in Ayr (100km south of Townsville), and the other one went into the basket for our Embroidery Group at Fibers Xmas lunch swap.

Below are all the ones I have received so far this year.

The large heart is from Martha Green from the USA swap, and the teddy bear in the train is from my Fibers swap basket.

The three across the bottom are all from one of my Crazy patch class student. The Angel is a sewing angel, she has her thimble ready for blessing.  The Angel on the far left is made from Yo Yo's (or Suffolk puffs - thinks that's the spelling)

This stunning shoe is from my Friend Patti in Ayr, we are part of the Southern Cross Crazy's Yahoo group.

Thank you to all who have given me these lovely pieces of work, I will treasure them always.

More catch up stuff

On top of doing the stitching for the Round Robins I'm part of, I've also been making some Xmas presents for some of my friends. I was given a few strands of pearls, and was aksed by the giver if I would make a brooch out of them for her, so the cream on on the left is for her, and the pink is for her daughter, the others I can't name as then it won't be a surprise for those who are receiving them, that read my blog.

Here are six I have made so far, I still have to make some for Family yet, but most of these are going overseas, so have to get in the post tomorrow.

Below are close ups of them all.
