Magnus lounged on his couch, with cocktail in hand. He looked out his balcony window at the sunset, he smiled sipping his drink. As the night progressed, cold night air entered through the open window. Magnus leant his head on the back of the couch, taking a deep breath, he liked nights like this.
His calm was broken by a loud knock on the door, sighing he sat up. Who could this be? He knew Alec would be at the institute all night, and the others were out on mission. He stretched his neck, and stood slowly, taking his time, the knocking got louder and faster, it worried Magnus speeding him up. He opened the door with a flourish of his hands. What he saw on the other side surprised him, Alec leant against the doorway breathing hard, he held a hand on his side. Magnus’s confusion quickly changed to worry when he saw blood seeping through Alecs shirt.
“Magnus.” Alec said weakly, as he stumbled and fell into Magnus’s arms.
“Alec what the hell happened?” Magnus asked as he helped the wounded shadow hunter to his couch.
“Nothing.” Alec said gruffly. Magnus laid Alec down softly. Alec grimaced in pain.
Magnus waved his hands above his husband, diminishing as much of the pain as he could.
“I need to see your wound to properly heal it Alec, I’m going to remove your shirt.” Magnus said, sitting Alec up he pulled the now blood-soaked shirt off. The wound was deep, it went from his back around to his chest, it didn’t look demonic luckily, if it had been Alec wouldn’t be laying here in front of Magnus.
“Oh Alec.” Magnus said sadly. He quickly started to healing process, Alec grunted in pain as magic worked around his wound. Magnus kept going even though he saw Alecs body shake with the pain.
“I’m sorry Alec, I’m sorry it will be done soon.” Magnus said, pushing more magic onto Alec. Eventually the pain got to the point of Alec screaming, even though it hurt Magnus he kept going. Magic swirled around the two of them. Finally, the wound had completely healed, Magnus fell onto his husband’s bare chest. Breathing deeply, he took a moment, when he felt some of his energy return, he stood up. Alec had passed out from the pain, it calmed Magnus’s nerves to see his chest rise and fall. Magnus busied himself to make Alec comfortable, he grabbed a spare shirt for the unconscious Shadowhunter. He brought a blanket and pillows, to make Alec more comfortable. When he was happy that he had done what he could, he brought a chair over and sat, watching, and waiting. He would be there when he woke up.
After two hours had passed Alec finally woke up with a start.
“NO!” He yelled, he stood up suddenly.
“Hey hey, Alec it’s alright your home your safe now.” Magnus said standing and holding his arm, he looked into the eyes of the distressed shadow hunter.
“Magnus how did I get here?” Alec asked, starting to get a bearing of his surroundings.
“I know as much as you right now Alexander, now sit. You don’t have enough energy to be up and around yet.” Magnus said, slowly pushing the man down, back to a sitting position on the couch. Alec touched his side gingerly.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know where else to go.” Alec said quietly.
“Alexander, you don’t need to apologise.” Magnus said, putting a hand on Alecs shoulder. “I will always be here to help you; it makes me feel better being the one to heal you. I know now that you are safe. And that makes me feel good.” Alec looked away, he stayed quiet though.
“Alec what happened?” Magnus asked after a moment.
“Just a rogue seelie. I handled it.” Alec responded, still not bringing his eyes up to Magnus’s.
“Where are the others. Should I call them?” Magnus asked.
“No!” Alec said, looking at him worried.
“No, they are taking the seelie to the institute. They can’t be distracted.” Alec said calming down, he looked away from Magnus again.
Magnus put a hand on his cheek, turning his head slowly to look into his eyes again.
“Alec, we have been married for almost a year now. I know when you are lying, please I will be here for you whatever happened. Just tell me please.” Magnus pleaded with him. Alec looked at him, Magnus could see so much pain in his eyes, he wanted to help. Tears started to fall from his blue eyes, Magnus wiped them from his husband’s cheek.
“Please Alexander, let me help.” Those last words seemed to break the Shadowhunter. Sobs shook through his body, he fell into Magnus’s arms, he let everything out. Tears streamed down Alecs face wetting Magnus’s gown, but he did not care. They stayed like that for a while, Alec crying his heart out, while Magnus held him tightly, hoping that his presence helped comfort his husband.
When the tears and sobs passed, Magnus pulled the blanket on the floor over them. He laid down, Alec still in his arms.
“Sleep my dear, you have done all you need. Now you must sleep, do not worry, I will stay with you till morn, I will be with you Alexander. I love you so much, so please sleep. I’m here.” Magnus said, repeating himself, until the shadow hunters laboured breathing slowed. Magnus smiled when he heard the quiet snoring of his beloved. He moved some stray hair out of Alecs blue eyes.
“I love you so much.” He said before letting sleep take over himself.
