“I’m pretty sure I smarted off to Arceus itself and they smote me back to the Hisui period with maybe-a-quarter-at-most-if-I’m-lucky of my memories as punishment for my audacity.”
After an incredibly awkward and pregnant pause, Volo let out a long and slow exhale through his nose before pinching the bridge of his nose. Casting his silver gaze to meet her eyes, he finally spoke, “...that does sound exactly like something you would do.”
“Just because it's the truth doesn’t mean you have to agree with me so quickly,” Akari grumbled with a pout.
Or: Akari’s blunt and smartass ways serve simultaneously as her greatest strength and weakness. At nineteen, one would think she would have learned not to say everything that popped into her head. Unfortunately, that is not the case. In the meantime, she just has to stumble around a land that is Sinnoh-but-not-Sinnoh and follow vague instructions from a being that is silent at best and unhelpful at worst. All while trying to figure out who she is. No big deal.

On hiatus due to FR lore implications, but I do eventually plan to return to this when I do my XC3 rewrite, so don't worry.

Summary
The end of Hisui does not come quickly, for the Wardens of Hisui the end it’s a slow and agonizing process, one they are unable to stop despite their best efforts. And as the passage of time defeats them and makes the world of Hisui fade away, eventually, the region and its people are doomed to be remembered just in history books.
But the Almighty was not satisfied by that ending.
When Arceus sent a champion to the past, made them experience all they could about Hisui and then returned them to the present, he had been convinced it would be enough to start the resurrection of the ancient region, but he had been wrong, and if he didn’t wish for his whole plan to fail then he would need to take some drastic measures.
Many years after the last of the Wardens died, all of them suddenly wake up again in modern Sinnoh, a land very different to the one they once knew, and with challenges they never imagined facing, but luckily they are not alone in this, and perhaps now they will finally be able to save the spirit of Hisui.
