Summary
Every year since the Millennium’s Rockin’ Eve Party of 1999, the Bridgertons had thrown a party to bring in the new year. And every year, it was the day the Bridgertons, and their respective partners, relatives and friends, looked forward to the most in the calendar.
On New Years' Eve 2024, the Bridgertons are setting up for their twenty-fourth party, the first having been the Millennium's Rockin' Eve Party of 1999. Unfortunately for Colin and Penelope, they haven't spoken in a year, and, as they get ready and start enjoying the festivities, they can't help but look back on the times when things hadn't always been this way.

In the center of her living room, she took a few delicate steps back in a pair of heels, resting her hands on a gorgeous red dress that hugged her figures in the most brilliant way. A pair of purple gloves were pulled up to above her elbows, and though the dress wasn’t as bedazzled or luxurious, it would have been impossible to miss the reference to Jessica Rabbit.
On the video, she was talking about how she wasn’t certain if she was showing too much, how she was concerned about the slit in the dress, about overdressing. But it fell onto a blank wall.

The statement took a moment to settle in. ‘You mean -?’ Colin’s head turned sharply back to the painting, scanning it slowly. She must have meant the woman herself, her hair or something. Only, the woman was blonde. Her face, did resemble Penelope’s ever so slightly, if you squinted, perhaps.
Then, she meant … No. She can’t have. Colin’s jaw tightened and his mouth felt suddenly very dry, his collar and breeches all far too tight. Staring at this painting that, according to his dearest friend, resembled her body.

Father… Harrington sounds promising enough on paper, at least. He’s already two years into his priesthood so he should fit in fine in the neighborhood and he’ll be residing in his own apartments near the cathedral. She prays he has no difficulty actually getting to the church. Lord knows Father Wiliams (rest in peace) had an alarming amount of trouble going home after services, being 87 and all.
