Summary
‘Eddie is pondering what he might order for dessert, a serious commitment, and then Shannon just blurts it out. She wants a divorce. Eddie says, “I’m thinking cheesecake,” and Shannon says, “I think we should get a divorce.”’
When Shannon asks Eddie for a divorce, Eddie feels lost. Then he meets Buck - gorgeous, confident, suave. He promises Eddie he will help him rediscover himself.

‘He still glances back at Eddie, one last time, a sinner until the end. Eddie’s lip quirks, barely a smile. Buck would like to say he doesn’t remember the last time he saw Eddie smile for real, but he remembers it down to the minute. The memory plays out in his head with a bright, hazy filter, like it’s a scene from a movie he saw once.
For one terrible, greedy moment, he waits. He waits for Eddie to say something else, something more, something honest. He waits for Eddie to say, come home with me. But Eddie doesn’t say a goddamn thing.’
Or, with Christopher gone, Eddie spirals. Buck just wants to help him stop spinning and slow down.
