Summary
After the end of season 2, the elves are building a haven in what will become Imladris and gathering their armies to strike back against Sauron. The scar left above Galadriel's heart by the spike of Morgoth's crown is healing. They may have lost the battle, but they have not yet lost the war.
And yet sometimes that scar aches. Sometimes she hears Halbrand's voice calling to her. And when two masked figures calling themselves Gaudrim arrive from Rhûn, saying they are elves of long-lost Doriath, Galadriel will not be the only one who finds healing a more complicated thing than it first appears.
(featuring: my those-Gaudrim-are-Sindarin-elves theory, Galadriel's crown stab injury as a Morgul-wound type of thing, masks, healing, and the overlap between marriage bonds and sorcery bonds.)

What she’s thinking of instead is that something’s all too familiar in what Elrond isn’t saying, that glint of something below the surface when he mentioned Maedhros, when he spoke of family. She knows it well; very well indeed.
She does, she thinks, still want to know more of it from Elrond, and not for her father-in-law’s diplomatic negotiations or her husband’s wounded friendship but for something far more simple and raw in herself: a sorrow that recognises its mirror, an understanding shared.

Summary
He waits her out, but she wins, she always wins, if only because he can no longer bear the struggle. Far better to willingly acquiesce than to submit under duress. This is the lesson she teaches him, day after day after day. His ego yields automatically, folding in favor of love, in favor of her, for the sake of their marriage.
It does not hurt that she is so pliable in the aftermath, so readily bending to the will of the hands she chose freely— freely, he reminds himself. He will not be her jailer, she cannot force him to fit the shape that suits her story best, to play his role as written in this ongoing drama conceived in her darkest days.
Celeborn suspects, in the weakest of moments, where he is spent yet unable to find rest, that she would much rather learn the touch of another.
