Percy and Annabeth, demigods, have defeated the Titans, and Gaea, and are in love as any couple in history, and have pledged to marry.
Miss Chase, however, is the daughter of the prominent professor, Frederick Chase, the younger brother and heir of the Earl of Mercia. Her father is unlikely to approve a match with the penniless son of a boarding house keeper and whose true parentage is questionable.
The solution then is that Percy will have to go to sea, and seek fortune and fame in the service of the King.

Inspired by, and companion to, Darkmagyk’s Engagement of a Peculiar Kind. I’m so thankful she allowed me to play in her sandbox and that we’ve been able to collaborate on this. She provided me with so many excellent moments of inspiration, and this has simply been a joy to work on. It allowed me to dust off my Napoleonic Wars knowledge and also to reconnect with my love of Patrick O’Brian’s novels. Hope you enjoy!

Annabeth’s favorite time to go to the library was right at the beginning of the semester. Midterms and finals were months away, it was too early for any tests or papers to be looming on the horizon, and the library was always practically empty. When it got busier, she usually preferred other various study locations—anything to escape the throngs of caffeine-high college kids—but now, on the second day of classes? She was the only one on the whole floor. She could browse the stacks, leaving her stuff at her table without fear of it being stolen, even read out loud if she needed to. There was no one to bother.
