Osamělého a vážně zraněného Nico Di Angelo navštíví ve snu Afrodita aby mu řekla že jeho utrpení brzy skončí, a on konečně nalezne svou spřízněnou duši. Nico tomu zprvu nevěří, ale s neplánovaným návratem do tábora polokrevných snad najde naději na lepší zítřky. Bohužel tím jeho problémy neskončí. Stále bojuje sám se sebou, se svou psychikou a vzpomínkami. Navíc se ho snaží získat bohyně temnot Nyx a vydírá ho, že když neudělá co si přeje ublíží jeho milovaným.

It all comes to a stop though, when he's forced to share an apartment with the bubbly Will Solace. Will spend his day singing upbeat songs, interjecting himself into social settings for pleasure.
Their lives couldn't be more different. Will sings and performs on the stage of the bar Belladonna, owned by Reyna and Thalia, in med school to be a doctor, while Nico serves drinks and cleans tables at the same place, also in med school to become a forensic pathologist.
