“Dan Feng,” Jing Yuan says. His voice is soft but firm. His hands are still warm on Dan Feng’s cheeks. He towers over Dan Feng, so very clearly not the young boy who used to follow him around.
“You are not a burden or a tarnish to me. Everything I give you, I give you freely. You can drag me down to the depths of the ocean, knowing every last breath is for you,” Jing Yuan says. He wipes away Dan Feng’s falling tears. “Take whatever you need, Dan Feng. I give it all to you.”
“I don’t deserve that,” Dan Feng says.
“Why not?” Jing Yuan challenges.

“Dan Heng,” and now there’s panic in Jing Yuan’s voice. “Wait —”
And then Jing Yuan can’t say anymore, because Dan Heng is kissing him.
