At the end of all endings, Gideon Nav stares at her death right in the face, and immediately knows she will do anything in her power to make sure Harrow survives this. If she needs to pierce her heart with a fence so Harrow will live, then so be it.
But Harrow sees this as treason. She knows that Gideon and her were supposed to die together, by each other's hand, so that they may never be alone. And if Gideon dies, she will leave her alone for myriads without the possibilty of reuniting in death. Gideon's sacrifice would only mean a betrayal. How can she not only live with the guilt of Gideon's death, but keep on living infinitely knowing she is now forever alone?
