The sea is a calm thing today.
What a horrid backdrop to the story of the life of one Kamishiro Rui.
He wants to laugh at the sheer irony of the situation. Maybe this was what the common folk called 'justice'. A simple irony; the beginning and the end, they're both the same but the circumstance and outcomes different. This was how it began and this is how it ends.
Rui gazes down upon the sea and it gazes back at him.
Will all his sins be absolved once he rejoins the endless blue, turning into seafoam forevermore?
In which Rui is a sea witch, and that somehow dooms him to being the villain of this story despite everything.

Lan Sizhui looks up and meets his eyes, and they are dark, stormy gray, muddled and concerned.
“I’m all right,” he croaks.
“Hush,” Wei Wuxian says, in a low croon, like someone quieting a baby. Then he blinks, and looks away, awkward. “I mean—you shouldn’t speak. You’re tired. Rest if you need to.”

amazing characterization and introspection of yuuri. i love how everything twists and takes an unsightly shape within him bc of his own mental issues, and how aware he is of it. his stubborn pride in not wanting to be seen as a weak person and so even something like pity becomes a despicable thing, though he knows that most humans are well meaning in theirs. im going to think about this fic for the rest of my life.

Shota sneers at the teenager across from him. His defense raises like the hairs on the back of his neck as he glares steadily, ready and waiting for whatever will come from this encounter. He narrows his gaze when the teen shifts; just the thought of sharing this rooftop with Japan's most notorious villain makes his skin prickle. “Deku.”
“Y-yes!” the teenager cries out in relief, taking a small step towards Shota, “I’m Deku! I’m so g-glad you—”
“Deku,” Shota growls darkly, flicking out his capture weapon hastily to snag the villain before he can make his move. He's quick to tug it taut, leaving no room for Deku to escape. “You’re under arrest.”
“I-I’m what?! W-wait!”
tl;dr
Hero Course student Izuku comes to the realization that he is definitely not where he's supposed to be.
